We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Natasha Archer-Jones a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Natasha, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic was embedded in me long before I was born, according to the stories I hear about my family’s legacy. It started with my grandmother. My father decided to let me carry her name as my middle name and often speaks about our similarities. She was a Bahamian native who moved to New York City at just 18 years old to start her life. She was skilled in many areas, from craftsmanship in her home to working as an entrepreneur, a trait she inherited from her father.
Moving into the present, I have always watched my parents and siblings work hard. As the baby of the family, I learned by observing them and understanding the value of consistency, responsibility, and perseverance at an early age. Being surrounded by people who showed up every day and took pride in their work shaped how I approach my own goals. Their example taught me that success is built through discipline, dedication, and a willingness to keep going even when things are challenging.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the founder of Smarties Tutoring, a virtual tutoring company I’ve been building since 2019. My work centers on early childhood education, with a strong focus on academic foundations and social and emotional development. Our work is especially meaningful because we believe children thrive when they feel supported, understood, and capable, not just academically successful.
Through Smarties Tutoring, we support families by easing the daily stress that often comes with school, homework, and changing educational expectations.
Most recently, I became a partner in a new childcare center in Miami Gardens, Imagine Success Academy. This expansion allows me to bring the same values of intentional learning, emotional development, and family support into an in-person early childhood setting. ISA is strengthening my mission to support children and families in meaningful ways.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The most impactful qualities on my journey are discipline, adaptability, and emotional intelligence.
Discipline shows up through consistency and building systems that creates structure and sustainability in my work. Clear processes and routines make it possible to grow intentionally rather than reactively.
Adaptability is essential in navigating change, uncertainty, and growth. Being open to learning, adjusting strategies, and responding to real-time needs allows me to evolve without losing direction.
Emotional intelligence plays a major role in leadership and relationship-building. Understanding people, communicating clearly, and leading with empathy helps me build trust and long-term partnerships.
For those early in their journey, my advice is to build strong systems early, remain flexible, and invest in developing self-awareness and people skills. Consistency, clarity, and purpose will carry you further than perfection.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My husband is one of the most helpful people on my journey. He is the one person who truly sees me fully, both my strengths and my areas for growth. His support goes beyond encouragement. He challenges my thinking, helps me stay grounded, and reminds me of my capabilities during moments of doubt.
Having someone who understands the vision while also holding me accountable is invaluable. His belief in me, especially during difficult seasons, helps me build confidence, resilience, and clarity.
Alongside him, the guidance of my family, his family, and close friends provide wisdom, perspective, and strength. Their collective support and the skillful people who stand beside me are what truly transforms my ideas into lasting success.
Entrepreneurship is often spoken about as a self-made journey, but my experience has shown me that success is rarely built alone. My journey is deeply rooted in support.
