Meet Natasha Bowers

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Natasha Bowers. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Natasha below.

Natasha, so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?

My self-discipline comes from remembering how far I’ve come, and the goals that lie ahead. Yes, I’ve graduated from art school, but now I want to further hone my skills and gain more work experience as an artist. Knowing that I didn’t come this far just to get this far keeps me motivated to push forward.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a storyteller first and foremost, and I specialize in comic books because I feel like it is one of the most powerful storytelling platforms. The most exciting part of what I do is the moment when my story makes an impact on the reader. Whether they laugh, cheer, or cry, I know that what I have created is meaningful and that people care about the stories I tell.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Discipline, self-respect, and effective communication are the most impactful qualities in my journey. As an artist, I think the most important yet unspoken lesson is this: don’t be afraid to turn down projects that aren’t right for you. Just because you are a hard worker doesn’t mean you deserve to be overworked. Creative or not, taking care of your health is of utmost importance, otherwise, you will burn out. You should be clear with your boundaries, process, goals, and pricing to attract the right professionals to your circle.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

I am so thankful for my parents, it’s hard to pick just one impactful thing they’ve done for me. They raised, challenged, and encouraged me to grow into who I am today. I would not be where I am without the sacrifices and support they have given me over the years. My parents made sure I learned as much as possible in school, each lesson guiding me on my creative journey. I can’t thank them enough for what they’ve done.
