We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Natasha Jimenez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Natasha below.
Hi Natasha , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my mom & grandmother. They both were single mothers of multiple kids and have had to do everything they can to provide and keep food on the table. My mom working any job she could and working long hours. She did everything and sacrificed so much.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I love all things creative. My longest career is being a hairstylist after many years in the field. I decided to open my own salon in June of 2021, and I never looked back. I love beautifying my client behind the chair and it’s always been so wonderful to create and make people feel beautiful.
When my daughter was born photography was an outlet for me. Specifically photographing her. Ive always loved photography, and I was always the one with the camera in hands, but it really became something truly amazing when I had my first child. When my daughter Cecilia was born she was my model. I took her newborn photos and would post them. I also would photographed all the babies in my family. People loved it so much and i gained so many clients and now i photograph everything from newborn babies to families and weddings.
Because of my love of photography and always wanting to have a space for creatives to create I decided to open Posed Photo & Event studio. Not only does this, provide me with an indoor space for my clients, but also a space for other to either photograph their projects, clients, or even host things like small events, workshops, and anything else you can imagine in this space. I want this space to be a hub for all things creative. I always joked that for every child i have I open a business lol. Posed was opened shortly after I had my son Emilio.
My ultimate goal in the end is to be able to take control of my time. I want to spend my time where it matters the most to me which is my family. Traveling & creating memories with my kids and Husband is so important to me. In order to do that, you have to work right lol. So i chose to do what i love and make a living out of it. I get to capture peoples journeys, milestones and celebrate them. I get to make people feel beautiful all while providing for my family. Im so grateful for that.
So many amazing things have happened for me and my businesses. I have been recently Published for my businesses on Fox interviewer and when I opened my studio space I was presented with a citation from the state Senate. I’ve also been nominated for businesswoman of the year by the Hispanic image Media & Co. these things have all happened this year alone! It has been amazing to see that I’m making an impact in the community. I just strive to continue to make impacts and show that with hard work and dedication. You can achieve your goals.
I dedicate all my success to my wonderful husband and my two beautiful children. Because to be honest, if I didn’t have my husband, Johnny and my corner, I wouldn’t be able to achieve even a quarter of the things that I have achieved. He’s so present in our home, and encourages me to continue to go for my dreams.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
This is a hard question because there’s just so many things that I would love to advise people who are pursuing any career or dream. But I think the biggest thing is to just start the thing that you’ve been wanting to start and learn everything you can on that and just run with it. Nothing is set in stone. You can always pivot and change and continue to learn. You only fail if you don’t try.
The second thing I would advise is to give yourself grace when you’re going through these stages of business. Starting a is not easy but definitely worth it.
Third thing would be to surround yourself with the types of people and types of places you want aspire to be. This will help you get to your next level and keep you in that mindset on leveling up. Make connections wherever you go. Lastly, you are never too good to learn. You may so much from the most unexpected people or places.
What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?
So I truly believe that at first you do need to try your best to be well rounded especially if your bootstrapping your business. I do think educating yourself anyway you can to help make your business run smoothly or have systems in place to help you with that is important and that will help you be more well-rounded. However, once your business is launched and you have steady revenue coming in. I do believe that your time can be better served doing the thing you wanted to do most and delegate everything else you can. Time is money they say and it’s totally true you can only stretch yourself so far.
I do think you need to be well-rounded overall. You should know your business but don’t be afraid to get help. Learn everything!!!
