We recently connected with Natasha Wilborn and have shared our conversation below.
Natasha, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from God first—knowing He carries me when life feels heavy. I also pull strength from the battles I’ve already overcome; every storm has taught me that I’m stronger than I thought. And honestly, the love and encouragement from the people who believe in me keeps me grounded when I feel like giving up. It’s a mix of faith, experience, and community that helps me rise again and again.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a Senior Accountant, author, and creative entrepreneur. My journal, Spiritual Journey, along with my handmade creations, is all about inspiring hope, resilience, and faith in everyday life. In my crafting business, I love bringing ideas to life—creating products, including affirmation-based candles, that uplift and encourage others. I’m currently focused on expanding my creative business with new projects and launches that continue to inspire strength and grace.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, creativity, and faith. Resilience has helped me navigate challenges in both my professional and personal life, keeping me moving forward even when things get tough. Creativity has allowed me to bring ideas to life in my crafting business, from handmade products to affirmation-based candles, and to see opportunities where others might see obstacles. Faith has been the foundation that guides my decisions and keeps me grounded, reminding me of my purpose and giving me the courage to take risks.
For those early in their journey, my advice would be: nurture resilience by embracing challenges as learning opportunities rather than setbacks; cultivate creativity by experimenting, taking risks, and trusting your instincts; and lean into faith—or whatever gives you a strong sense of purpose—as a guiding compass. Developing these areas takes time, patience, and practice, but they will provide a solid foundation for growth and success in any path you choose.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?
I believe it’s most impactful to go all in on your strengths, while maintaining awareness of areas where growth is needed. Focusing on your strengths allows you to maximize your natural talents and make the biggest impact, whether in your career, creative work, or personal life. At the same time, understanding your weaker areas and addressing them strategically—without letting them become a source of constant frustration—helps you operate more effectively.
For example, in my journey as a Senior Accountant, author, and creative entrepreneur, my strengths are organization, creativity, and faith-driven perseverance. I’ve leaned into those qualities to grow my crafting business and launch my journal, Spiritual Journey. However, I’ve recognized areas like marketing and time management weren’t initially my strongest skills, so I’ve intentionally sought resources, advice, and tools to improve in those areas without losing focus on what I do best. This balance has allowed me to thrive—making the most of my talents while growing in ways that support my overall goals.
