We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nate Perry . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nate below.
Nate , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I have to say, I believe that I’ve gotten my resilience from watching my mother work as hard as she has. Until this very day, it motivates me. I believe it’s more so because I have a duty to my siblings to never give in even when times are getting hard, No matter what you have to keep going because life doesn’t slow down. It just keeps moving whether or not you’re ready..
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Well, currently at the moment I have a poetry project in the works that’s supposed to drop on 25 February called The King OF Hearts part two. I’m very excited for that project. I didn’t anticipate on doing a part two but it naturally came to me so I had to make sure that I told the story.I believe the most exciting thing about what I do with poetry and photography is tell story. I tell a story with images without using words I believe that’s the most profound thing you could do for the mind. Whereas, with writing you create a visual without the picture, also another amazing thing to do for the mind. I’ve been doing poetry for over a decade and I still get excited every time I write because I’m constantly evolving and growing so there’s always something new to write a new perspective to bring the light.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I believe that reading is an essential skill always having knowledge is key. I believe seeking counsel from someone older than you. And lastly, I believe having faith.. to people who are early in their journey I recommend that you pray seek counsel and seek knowledge. I believe those are the most important things you could do in your life God will provide the path it’s up to you to have the knowledge and the foresight to be able to travel.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my mother did for me was show me, perseverance, strength, and determination. my mother is an amazing woman and this isn’t anything she can’t do that will hold her back. I’ve literally seen my mother tired and go work. I get my work ethic from her and I’m proud to say that I’m doing the work that I said I would do to my mother years ago in high school.
