Hi Naviyd, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
In order to be effective and successful when you are the only one in the room who looks like you, it’s important to embrace your uniqueness and use it as a strength building confidence in your own abilities and knowledge is key.
Seek out mentors and supportive colleagues who can provide guidance and advocacy. Take the opportunity to educate others about diversity and inclusion and don’t be afraid to speak up and share your perspective.
By staying true to yourself and being persistent and pursuing goals, you can make a positive impact and demonstrate your capabilities regardless of how different you may look from those around you.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey as a model and content creator, three qualities that have been most impactful are perseverance, creativity, and adaptability.
Perseverance has been vital in overcoming challenges and rejections, pushing me to keep going even when faced with adversity.
Creativity has allowed me to Stand Out by producing unique and engaging content.
Adaptability has been key in navigating the constantly evolving landscape of the industry, enabling me to pivot and thrive in changing circumstances.
For those early in their journey, my advice would be to focus on developing these qualities by setting clear goals, staying motivated, thinking outside the box, and being open to new possibilities.
Consistency, in particular, is crucial for building a strong brand and loyal following. By consistently putting out content and engaging with your audience regularly you can establish trust and credibility, which are essential for long-term success.
