Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nax “The Vision” Martin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Nax, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
One of the things that I feel distinguishes me in this generation is my work ethic, I take pride in being able to stay passionate and consistent with my Art. My Dad always would tell me “it’s DNA” all I know how to do is work hard for what i want. I give credit to my parents & God more than anything for instilling the importance of having hustle and making a way for yourself not dependent on anything but God first then use your body as the vessel for the work.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am Nax aka “The Vision” amongst many other names…a creative based out of East Atlanta. I have shared my journey a few times in previous articles how I’ve gotten to this point so be sure to go back & read those! I am currently in the process of reopening @thevisiongala so im excited about that the most! In the meantime I have been able to collaborate and work with a team of young ladies named Rah & AB in Atlanta for a company called TRSH Mag where i am the Cam Op/Editor, & we’ve been trailblazing since January! be sure to check out the content. shoutout my girls we go so hard despite anything thrown our way, I have to give us our flowers in this article…LOVE YALL! I have learned so much from this new venture and I am hoping to continue elevate in all areas where I’ve opened these new doors.
Special Thank You to Sauce McGraw, I wouldn’t have made it this far without his mentorship & leadership and just overall creating that space from day one for me to create and fail then do it better next time, thanks for having faith in me & grace for me!
keep God 1st, you can not fail!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think the most rewarding qualities to have..not just in the industry but for life in general would be God fearing, Perseverance, and Humility. If you keep God first, you can not fail. In todays time we give praise to everything but our higher powers, can’t have that! If you persevere then you have no fear, no matter what life throws at you! You’re ducking or swinging but you can’t run from it. Last but not least, Humility…I love my humbleness and you don’t meet many people who have made it out of what i did still want to remain humble. Most people wanna come up and stunt on everybody who doubted, but me I just wanna come up, bless my family, love who loves me and just be able to live a true peaceful & healthy life! For anybody just starting out or feeling lost because they don’t have it figured out yet, Baby we are young and not supposed have all these things figured out yet never let social media and the world get you distracted from your divine timing & purpose!
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
When it comes to person I am today, I give credit to God first because only he could’ve pulled out of those life or death situations. I lost everything and everyone around me & was forced to start from the ground up to reach his glory and really hear the prophetic words spoken over my life. A lot of people know their worldly purpose but not everyone knows their Divine Purpose & once I learned that I’ve been on fire for God and seeking truths ever since then everything in my life is aligning the way my vision knew it would. I also credit my Dad, I left home at 18 knowing I was destined for more than what this world was trying to put on me. He has raised me to be this fearless, intelligent, hardworking, woman I am today. My advice to any parent of a child that “thinks their grown” or “runs the streets” don’t turn them loose, because our adult years are our most pivotal years, love them babies, guide them, til God calls you home…Parenting doesn’t stop at any age, make sure they know you love them even if it’s hard love! make time to be there for them because this life stuff ain’t easy for anybody!
