Meet Naz Meknat

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Naz Meknat a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Naz, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
As an immigrant born and raised in a country where women have no rights, and you have to fight every day to survive, I learned how to overcome obstacles and navigate difficult situations from an early age. Going through eight years of war and as a rebellious child, growing up under a strict Islamic dictatorship taught me many life lessons and not just survive but thrive.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a Celebrity Wardrobe Stylist, Luxury Personal Shopper, and an Author. I have been in the Fashion industry for over 15 years. My memoir, “7000 Miles to Freedom” was published in August of 2021. After my book came out, I found myself more involved in advocating for women’s rights, Victims, and survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. As I continue my work as a Stylist in the fashion industry, I dedicate the rest of my time to bringing awareness to important social issues women face every day, especially Domestic violence and sexual abuse as well as the fight for freedom by the brave women in Iran.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
As far as my work in Fashion, It was important for me to get an education first. It will give you more credibility if you put a degree behind your career, though not strictly necessary. When I started my work as a stylist, I had to seek an internship with a more experienced Stylist to learn the business, so patience and hard work were crucial to my success. As I started to get more involved with my advocacy, I had to learn to listen and understand different situations and scenarios, and find an effective way to be helpful and productive. So like everything else in life, perseverance, patience, and taking advantage of any opportunity to learn more, helped me get to where I am today.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
An ideal Client is someone who is open to try something different than what they’re used to. Someone who is not afraid to leave their comfort zone and step out of their routine, open to new ideas and doesn’t mind change or trying something new. I love to work with clients who like to collaborate and exchange ideas. Someone who trusts my expertise and also trusts the process.
