We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nee Mantse a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Nee, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
Haha…Imposter syndrome is something I have had to fight very well. Once in a long while it tries to show up again but I know what colour it comes in so I’m able to overcome it before it does to me. How I overcame this is by taking a break to understand how unique and different I am created from everyone else in terms of my creative abilities. The fact that my fingerprint is unique and assigned to only me gives me the confidence to stand out anywhere I find myself. No one can do anything like you will do it and that’s it.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Music is my first love and I have professionally pursued it for the past 12 years. I have worked as a session bass player for notable artists around the world and recorded bass on some hit songs like “5 star by Adekunle Gold ft. Rick Ross”, etc. Some of the exciting moments in this journey is travelling around the world to perform on festival stages, also meeting new people and experiencing other cultures.
I have new music “Obsession” out on all platforms. I am working on some new ones to release soon as well as collaborating as a music producer with other amazing artists on the body of works.
As a creative entrepreneur, I am open to collaborate on art projects being it music, film, painting, events, etc. Being able to create music from the abstract is something I am and will forever be grateful for.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Self awareness
2. Consistency
3. A free spirit of LOVE

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert.
I will recommend this book to creatives. Few of the grabs from this book are;
1. It doesn’t matter how many people are doing a thing, it has not been done by you yet and don’t let that stop you. (In my own words)
2. Ideas are always wanting human collaborators. when it comes around knocking at your door, make sure you open else it will be gone to whoever welcomes it. (In my own words)
