Meet Neville Johnson

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Neville Johnson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Neville below.

Neville, so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?

I have a successful practice as an entertainment attorney. I discovered and follow the philosophy of John Wooden, the greatest coach in the history of athletics who created the Pyramid of Success. He says success is peace of mind which is a direct result of doing your best to be your best, Key ingredients are hard work, enthusiasm and going after a great and difficult challenge. I liked his philosophy so much I wrote his biography, the best-selling “The John Wooden Pyramid of Success”(2004),

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

For 50 years I’ve been helping others as an attorney. I solve problems, sometimes very thorny. I help people achieve their goals. We bring class actions for talent (writers, authors, directors, songwriters, musicians) and have helped thousands. We work in a variety of areas, including defamation, invasion of privacy, wrongful use of images, failure to pay net profits, sexual harassment, and copyright infringement. We represent clients throughout the world. The clients are interesting and so is the work. The legal world is ever-changing and we are constantly learning.

I am also the recording and performing artist and songwriter, Trevor McShane, actively promoting my work in the endeavor.

I am also writing books as Neville Johnson
The John Wooden Pyramid of Success (2004, 2nd ed.)
What Took You So Long, 167 love poems
Spy Poems, 50 poems about espionage
First Love, Last Love, a romance novel (and I have a screenplay based on it)

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Do what you love and are interested in,

There is no substitute for hard work.

Be a joiner, learn to and do network.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

Ensured that I got a good education. Led by example with great values. Were fundamentally kind people.
