Meet Nguyet Anh Nguyen

We recently connected with Nguyet Anh Nguyen and have shared our conversation below.

Nguyet Anh, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I think I was lucky to have many mentors and friends who saw my value and lifted me up as I needed it. I’m confident but not always since doesn’t matter how good or talented you think you are someone out there needs to recognize it and see it. I feel like I was very lucky that I was able to meet such people in my life. They helped me see how valuable I’m to myself. I think once you gasped your value everything else will automatically come.

For me, my confident and self-esteem were boosted because I chose to surround myself with people who truly care and support me. My advice for everyone out there is to first understand that you’re talented then surround yourself with people who think the same or give you honest thought.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m currently working for Apple and I previously worked on features for Netflix and WB. In recent years, I found my passion in creating stories and content. I want to be an executive producer to make decisions that make an impact from creative to executive decision. After my time in Southeast Asia, I discovered that there are so many talented individuals being buried under society and cultural judgment. I was lucky to be able to work in a free country with free expression when it comes to creativity.

I want to make stories and I want to help bring talented people who living their lives unrecognized, unappreciated, and unseen. I plan to move my production company to focus on developing stories about Southeast Asia, starting with my birth country Vietnam.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think the top three things that helped me throughout my career are:

First is my thirst for knowledge. I’m constantly learning. If I met anyone better than me in any field, instead of wasting my time feeling envious and jealous. I would learn all I could from them and study the subjects that I didn’t know. This way I can push myself up without dragging others down.

Second is my understanding of people and myself. In other to be a good leader, I feel like I need to understand what can I do to help put the person under me in the best environment. I need to understand what my limit and set proper goals and understand that not everyone is the same.

Third is my accumulated experience in all of the different projects I’ve worked on. I’ve worked on VFX, Game cinematic, Indie film, Series, VR, tech management, and 2d/3d features. Due to having an all-around knowledge and experience I feel like I can do any job.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Currently, I’m looking for folk who understand what our industry lacks and understand Southeast Asia, understand that there are so many talented people outside of the US.

Creative people are being buried so I’m looking for partners who can give me the connection I need to make my dream come true.
