We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nia Finlay a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nia, we are so appreciative of you taking the time to open up about the extremely important, albeit personal, topic of mental health. Can you talk to us about your journey and how you were able to overcome the challenges related to mental issues? For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.
Learning the art of letting go and knowing when to ask help. Since starting my healing journey, I have learnt a lot about myself and through therapy I learnt who I am as a person and what my triggers are relating to my childhood. This knowledge helps me navigate through tricky situations with ease. Further to that, working with crystals and becoming more spiritual has helped me slow down and prioritising my mental health when its necessary and when to move forward and persevere to accomplish a life goal or task in hand.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Since 2021 I have worked on building a wellness business that is in line with my heritage as well as my crystal and spiritual knowledge. My business is called Nia Finlay and I offer bespoke Crystal and Spiritual Healings both in person and on line, as well as create jewellery that is energetically aligned with the wearer. This ranges from grounding anklets to bracelets that help you raise your vibration or transition smoothly through a life changing event.
In addition to this, I hold Monthly women’s Circles locally, in a hut surrounded by nature. Through gentle reflection, guided meditation, and open-hearted sharing, I hold the space to:
🌿 Call upon the ancestral threads that support and strengthen us
🌿 Listen deeply to our intuition as a source of clarity and truth
🌿 Celebrate the lessons we’ve gathered from our own journeys
🌿 Sit in sisterhood, witnessing and being witnessed in our wisdom
This is a space to slow down, root into your knowing, and remember that you hold within you a well of insight that is always available. The Wise Woman lives in each of us — and when we gather, her presence becomes even stronger.
I also collaborate with a friend who is a yoga instructor for women either pregnant or with little ones and a doula. We are offering a Motherhood retreat in Sussex.
I bring my heritage, ancient healing modalities such as ayurveda ( my grandad is an ayurvedic doctor in India) and my ability to hold spaces making women feel comforted and supported on their healing journey.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three main skills –
Asking for help, I have had therapy, and found healing spaces to help me deal with traumatic life events such as parents divorcing, abandonment by a parent in my 20’s, having a premature baby in 2020 – during covid. Therapy helped me work through this without feeling a burden on anyone
Spirituality – I have always been spiritual and have taken time to learn about ancient healing modalities, this has helped me in having integrity for my business and brand, and ensuring clients can develop a relationship based on trust
Go getter – I have this drive in me (im a true aries) which helps me try things out and not fear the worst. I love to put my hand up and go first. To be a leader and a champion for women to ensure we are honored and empowered at all stages of life.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
Living a life on a spiritual path but also maintaining a very physical lifestyle — such as being very self aware, wanting to live life in line with the seasons and at a slower pace, but also be a mother and nurture and provide for them in this physical world where work life balance is hard.
I am trying to find balance and knowing when to step away from mum mode and fill my cup and also to continue to work hard so I can be successful and have enough wealth to provide for my family and have time to actually spend with them
