Meet Nicholas Matarazzo

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nicholas Matarazzo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nicholas below.

Nicholas, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Building my confidence and self-esteem has been a transformative journey. It began with embracing self-acceptance, acknowledging my flaws, and appreciating my unique qualities. I set realistic, small goals and celebrated each success, which gradually built my confidence. Positive affirmations became a daily practice, helping me focus on my strengths and potential. This combination of self-acceptance, goal-setting, and positive thinking significantly boosted my confidence and self-esteem over time.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I started making videos at a very young age, and as I got older, I realized that my true passion lies in helping others. This passion led me to create a nonprofit organization called Sunrise House Ministries. Our mission is to support domestic violence victims and promote health and wellness. We have just officially launched and are now ready to start accepting donations, which is incredibly exciting as it marks the beginning of our journey to make a real difference in people’s lives.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of my work is the love I have for making videos. This passion allows me to build a community where I can engage with others, share good memories, and tell meaningful stories with people from all over the world. It’s incredible how video content can connect us across distances and bring a sense of closeness and understanding.

In the midst of building Sunrise House Ministries, I also launched a clothing brand called “Born Nomads.” This brand is a creative outlet for me, reflecting my love for simple and cozy designs. It embodies a sense of freedom and comfort, something I believe resonates with many people.

What excites me the most about my work is the ability to impact lives positively, whether through providing essential support to those in need or offering clothing that makes people feel good. Both ventures allow me to express different facets of my personality and passions, and I’m thrilled to see where this journey will take me.

We have some exciting things coming up, including new product launches for Born Nomads and various events for Sunrise House Ministries to raise awareness and support. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my journey and look forward to the future with hope and enthusiasm.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey are resilience, creativity, and empathy.

Resilience: Resilience has been essential in overcoming the numerous challenges I’ve faced while building Sunrise House Ministries and Born Nomads. The ability to bounce back from setbacks and keep moving forward is crucial. My advice for developing resilience is to adopt a growth mindset. Accept that failures and setbacks are part of the process and use them as learning opportunities. Surround yourself with a supportive network of people who encourage and uplift you during tough times.

Creativity: Creativity has driven much of my work, from making engaging video content to designing cozy and simple clothing for Born Nomads. To nurture creativity, make a habit of exploring new ideas and experimenting without fear of failure. Take time to immerse yourself in different experiences, whether it’s through travel, reading, or trying new activities. This not only fuels your creativity but also keeps you inspired.

Empathy: Empathy has been at the heart of my efforts to help others through Sunrise House Ministries. Understanding and connecting with the experiences and feelings of others has guided my mission and shaped my approach. To develop empathy, practice active listening and put yourself in others’ shoes. Engage in conversations with a diverse range of people and learn about their perspectives and challenges. This will deepen your understanding and help you build stronger, more meaningful connections.

For those early in their journey, focus on building these qualities by staying open-minded, continuously learning, and surrounding yourself with a positive and supportive community. This foundation will help you navigate your path and make a lasting impact.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

When I feel overwhelmed, I find that a few key strategies help me regain my balance and move forward. First, I take a break to clear my mind. Whether it’s a walk outside, some deep breathing exercises, or simply sitting quietly for a few minutes, stepping away from the situation helps me reset and approach the problem with a fresh perspective. Sometimes, it’s best to simply take a break and do something I’ve never done before, which can provide a refreshing change of pace and inspire new ideas. Next, I prioritize my tasks and break them down into smaller, manageable steps. This makes the workload seem less daunting and allows me to focus on one thing at a time. Using a to-do list or planner can be very effective in organizing tasks. Lastly, I’ve learned that it’s okay to ask for help when needed. Whether it’s delegating tasks, seeking advice from a mentor, or just talking things out with a friend, getting support from others can lighten the load and provide new insights. By incorporating these strategies, I can navigate through overwhelming moments with greater ease and clarity.
