Meet Nicholas Reese

We were lucky to catch up with Nicholas Reese recently and have shared our conversation below.

Nicholas, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I’ve found my purpose when I stopped playing college basketball. I never knew what I wanted to do with myself in regards to hobbies because I was so in tune with sports. As time went on I went on a journey to find what works for me and photography did just that. Ever since I picked up a camera I’ve yet to place it down. It serves me happiness and motivation to know I can be the best I can be with just a click of a button.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m currently at multimedia specialist for NSU Athletics as well as Vice President for the Content Creators Club. I also established my own business, Reesevisualz Photography. I specialize in capturing moments and creating visual stories through the lens. I offer a range of photography services, including portrait sessions, event coverage, commercial photography, and creative projects. My goal is to immortalize memories, convey emotions, and encapsulate the essence of every subject I photograph, ensuring each image tells a unique and captivating story.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three important factors that play a huge part in success is consistency, discipline, and confidence. Being a photographer in the beginning the work is not at all perfect it’s a stepping stone for each shoot you do because throughout time you pick up on your weaknesses and strengthen them. My advice to the people trying to pursuit that field is do as much research as possible so you can have a successful outcome.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents done for me is to send me off to private school to better my education and athletics. Reason being is that where I’m from it’s not many opportunities for young black men to thrive and prosper in their respective sport. Throughout my high school career I’ve explored more by playing on travel teams and playing high major players every other night. To have that experience at such a young age is a blessing because it helped me become who I am today.
