Meet Nichole England

We were lucky to catch up with Nichole England recently and have shared our conversation below.

Nichole, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

My work ethic was shaped long before I picked up a makeup brush. I grew up around strong women who never made excuses—they just made things happen.

In my 18 years as a makeup artist, including 13 at MAC, I learned early that talent alone isn’t enough. Whether it was 5 a.m. call times for Fashion Week or late nights training new artists, those experiences taught me discipline, humility, and the importance of showing up fully, no matter what.

Now as a mom and full-time artist, that drive means even more. My daughter, Amelia, inspires me daily to lead by example—to show her that passion, hard work, and heart can truly build a beautiful life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’ve been a makeup artist for over 18 years, and I still feel so lucky to do what I love. I spent 13 years with MAC Cosmetics, where I trained artists, worked backstage at New York Fashion Week, and learned the true art of connection through beauty.

Now, as a full-time makeup artist, I focus on creating looks that enhance—not hide—someone’s natural beauty. My favorite part of what I do is helping people feel confident and seen, whether it’s a bride on her wedding day or someone getting glam “just because.”

I encourage all my clients to exude confidence, creativity, and self-love—because I believe beauty starts from within.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three qualities that have shaped my journey are discipline, adaptability, and empathy. Discipline has kept me consistent in my work, adaptability has allowed me to handle whatever comes my way, and empathy helps me connect with clients and make them feel confident.

For those starting out, my advice is to stay curious, embrace change, and always consider others’ perspectives—these habits will strengthen your skills and help you grow both personally and professionally.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

The past 12 months have been a huge period of growth for me, both personally and professionally. Most notably, I officially launched my own makeup artistry company this year, which has pushed me to step fully into leadership, business management, and creative ownership.

This journey has taught me to trust my instincts, balance multiple roles, and embrace challenges as opportunities to grow. Building something from the ground up has been both humbling and incredibly rewarding, and it’s reinforced the importance of staying focused, adaptable, and passionate about the work I do.
