Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nick Barshick. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
As the COO and Co-Founder of Chuze Fitness, what we do goes far beyond providing a place to work out – we’re focused on building healthier communities through human connection, kindness, and hospitality. Our roots come from the service industry, and that DNA is woven into everything we do, from how our teams show up for members to how our clubs are designed to feel welcoming, clean, and inclusive. We saw early on that the fitness industry was missing warmth, as too many gyms relied on pressure-driven sales tactics and intimidating environments. We believe fitness should feel approachable, supportive, and genuinely enjoyable!
What’s most exciting about Chuze is how intentionally we’ve grown. Today, Chuze Fitness has 57 clubs across seven states, with additional locations on the way, but we’ve never lost sight of our “less attitude, more fitness” mentality. We offer a premium gym experience, such as cardio cinemas, recovery lounges, pools, child care, unlimited classes, at a price point that makes fitness accessible to more people, with memberships starting at just $9.99 per month. That balance of value and experience is something we’re incredibly proud of.
As we continue to expand, our focus remains the same: creating spaces where our community feels comfortable walking in on day one and supported enough to keep coming back. Whether it’s opening new clubs in growing communities or continuing to invest in our team members and amenities, our goal is to raise the standard for what a gym can be: one rooted in hospitality, kindness, and connection.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three areas of knowledge that made the biggest difference in my journey: an entrepreneurial mindset, grit, and collaboration rooted in kindness. Having an entrepreneurial mindset helped me identify gaps in the market and stay flexible when things didn’t go as planned. My advice is to stay curious, question the status quo, and pay attention to real problems people are experiencing. Grit and perseverance carried Chuze Fitness through the early years, from long hours to doing whatever it took to get the doors open. For any young business, discomfort and uncertainty are part of building something meaningful, and consistency matters more than perfection. Finally, collaboration and kindness have been essential to building a strong culture. No business is built alone, and investing in trust, communication, and people who share your values will take you further than any single idea ever could.
