Meet Nick Flores

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nick Flores. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nick below.

Nick, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I found my purpose through failure. It’s quite funny before I pursued music I was studying to be a marine biologist but I was terrible at school and I couldn’t understand chemistry to save my life. However music was always a passion for me, even though I didn’t play an instrument at the time I knew that it was my path to give to the world my style of music that I was inspired with as a little boy.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am the lead singer, songwriter and rhythm guitarist for the band Café Bleu an up and coming project that I founded with some friends back in 2023. Based in Atlanta, GA; our music shows homage to the styles of 80s jangle pop groups from the European post punk era. the band is JT Morrow (drums); Andy Morgan (keys); Frankie Cabibi (lead guitar); Spencer James (bass) and Ben Tippett (sax/percussion). The band’s music draws inspiration from acts such as Aztec Camera, Prefab Sprout, Andy Pawlak, The Pale Fountains and many more. We currently have four beautiful singles out on every platform but be sure to look out for our first EP “Caution to the Wind” coming this year! We are playing shows all over the southeast from Charleston, Sc to Atlanta and Athens, GA. Come on by and swing to one of the shows!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three D’s, determination, dedication and discipline. These three terms are the most valuable things that have gotten the group to where we are now and to where we want to be in the future. To be quite frank I am still learning much myself to give advice but I will say don’t be afraid to take the first step, because an idea is just an idea, he who acts on his dreams will accomplish more than he who sit’s still dreaming.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

Everyone! My family, my friends and most importantly my bandmates. We have grown so much together and we are constantly learning and getting better at what we do. In the end it is our duty to work hard and make music that we are confident in playing that will touch a persons heart the way it has touched ours. A lot of people think you need to be rich and famous to be successful but the success has already begun! it is the journey and bond you make as bandmates along the way together, that there is real success.
