We were lucky to catch up with Nick Laureano recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nick , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience stemmed from a long line of pain and disappointment in my childhood. I chose the path of kindness and spreading love.
It led me on a path to not become like those who hurt me and be different from the rest. Finding new ways to level up and improve my well being. Challenging my own thinking and setting no bar for myself as I believe there should never be a ceiling. You can go as high as you so choose.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I speak passionately about mental health and suicide prevention.
Myself being a 3x suicide survivor, it’s been a mission of mine to help others positively but to understand their emotions and guide them to create healthier ways of living. I was never always the outspoken one, I used to be very timid and shy. I never imagined myself speaking professionally to kids, young adults and even business owners. My brand name/business is called Only the Motivated where our goal is to not only promote a lifestyle and positive brand, but to allow others to feel seen and heard through their own personal story. My sole mission is to leave a positive impact on the lives of others no matter how big or small. Impact is impact. Making others smile.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
“Never stop improving. Never stop learning. Never stop growing.”
That’s one of my favorite sayings I remind myself on a daily basis. Tough times happen, bad moments happen, and it’s all about how we respond.
Mastering patience is the most important of all. You can’t rush what’s meant for you and you can’t rush the journey. Some if not most things in life happen on its own accord.
Being kind for no reason. Spreading love to others whether you receive it in return or not. Always flowing with good intentions and a good heart.
Last but not least, using the power of your words positively. Our words hold weight and you should never speak negative upon yourself. You’ll trick your mind into believing it’s true when it’s not.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am always open to collaboration as I believe it is vital for not only personal growth and success but meeting new people from all different walks of life presents new perspective and way of living you never knew about.
I myself being in the mental health flans entrepreneurial field, I aim to collaborate with those who are open minded and have a sense for helping others.
