Meet Nick Patrick

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nick Patrick . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nick below.

Nick , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Skateboarding! Skateboarding is a self taught skill set. People can tell and show you how something is done but they can’t jump in your body and make you do it. To learn a new trick it can take years of failing, painful injuries, and complete frustration just to land it once. On rare occasions you get it the first try. But if and when you land something that you thought you could never… the pay off of realizing you and only you were responsible for that outcome is as if you won the lottery. Just the idea that if you give it your all and never give up it’s not really an if thing it’s more of a when thing. It changed how I looked at the world. I took the drive I had to learn how to skateboard and applied it to the world and its road blocks truly nothing can stop me. It all comes down to how bad I want it and how much am I willing to suffer to get it. That if I really want to, it can be done. All I have to do is give it my all and some patience it can be done.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Hello world! My name is Nick Patrick, Im a Photographer/Videographer. I specialize in art and sports lifestyle photography/videography. I’ve always had a passion for music, skating, and fashion. I grew up putting skate magazine ads and CD art covers all over my walls. Whenever I see my work posted from brands as advertisements the little kid in me smiles. That’s my goal every time I get the opportunity work with a brand I look up to. I’m very passionate about what I do, and I’m looking to work with other people that are passionate about what they do. The ability to freeze time and create an emotion from a image or video is a blessing to me.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Collaboration, communication, and patience. I started shooting my skateboarding friends first and word of mouth took me on my journey. Being able to communicate with different artists and brands to hear their vision and execute it got me the jobs. Learning to be patient as a creative takes time and learning how to learn when to wait and when to push was instrumental in my growth. Don’t be afraid to do your own research and reach out. I reached out to a lot of people asking what some would say are dumb questions, asking those questions got me a lot of jobs and a lot of knowledge.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Yes, I am looking for artists and clothing companies to collaborate with. What I’m looking for now is to create content with golfers and golfing clothing brands. As well as hip hop artists and lifestyle clothing brands. I’ve always been a fan of hip hop and the “clothing art lifestyle” they pursue. I also love action sports photography “skateboarding”. I’ve been doing it for a while but I just recently got into golf and just fell in love with it. I can’t skate how I used to so I took up golfing. I love being outside and how difficult golf can be reminds me a lot of skateboarding. One small movement in the wrong way will mess everything up. The mentality to be able to fail and get right back up and and keep going from skating is like hitting a bad shot in golf, brushing it off before I hit my next. I believe my take on the sport can and will set me aside from the rest. I know golf’s changing and I’d like to be apart of the process. I take my love for art fashion and action sports into the golf world and bring a new and exciting perspective to the golf world.
