Meet Nick Sledge

We were lucky to catch up with Nick Sledge recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Nick, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
Overcoming imposter syndrome feels like a necessary evil to ascend in any artist career. I would like to think I overcome constant waves of imposter syndrome with each new project. It’s that voice in your head telling you that your not who you are or that you are about to be “brought back down to reality”. I personally keep any piece of art that I have created in some capacity, whether it be a link, a post or memento from the shoot as a reminder I could come back to at any time and revisit. I instantly notice the growth and progression. Things that I may have loved and been recognized for at the time I may have gotten better at producing or changed the style completely for the better. I’m reminded that I had that same nervous feeling then, that I was an imposter and that the rug was about to get pulled from under me, yet it never did. That’s not to say I haven’t made mistakes or fell short from a goal but I genuinely believe that you can’t miss any opportunity that is truly meant for you so shoot that shot you might win the game.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
In 2023 myself and my wife Lynette launched a motion picture studio, F3 Motion Pictures. F3 stands for Faith Family and Focus. Faith in God first but we also recognize our clients trust us and have faith that we can bring their visions to reality. Family being that we truly treat our collaborators and team members like family serving them as they help serve the vision. Focus being the last pinnacle yet equally important. We truly believe in having a unified focused vision. We achieve that by being active listeners and communicators, keeping the team cohesive and uplifting everyone in their individual niche.

We have already completed some amazing music videos with many up and coming Atlanta artist with more loading up daily. We will expand our reach growing each collaborator with each collaboration leaving a trail of successes along the way. As a motion picture studio we have multiple short form narrative pieces in different stages of production right now and are extremely excited to share soon. All current work and any upcoming work will always be viewable on f3mov.xyz

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Networking, receiving artistic critiques and learning to direct my intake of media have all truly evolved my career as a whole. Everyone talks about it’s not what you know but who you know and I looked at it from a negative point of view for so long but I don’t see it in that regard anymore. Many of my most proud moments and opportunities in my career have been through a friend or a friend of a friend and that relationship may have started at an event or mixer or even an Uber ride and over time it evolved into a creative experience or a paid opportunity. So I would say never be afraid to put yourself out there and be genuinely you, never know what could happen. One thing that I think a lot all creatives would benefit from greatly is having friendly artists critiques. Just having another artist or anyone opinions you care about, give you their honest feedback about your art good bad or indifferent can have some major value. They may see something you didn’t or tell you things that didn’t work as well. Just bouncing ideas and discussing the set gives it more life and truly receiving the information may make you a better artist overall. My final piece of advice is to learn to direct your intake of media. We all watch hours of Tik Toks, IG post, Tweets, news articles, movies, and tv shows a week. Imagine if we constructed decided to chose only content that would inspire our next creative piece. To me our minds are what we consume and the more constructive inspiring ideas you consume the more you can create.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
We are always looking for more people to build the brand. We would love to meet more actors and musicians but we would also love to meet more filmmakers at different stages and niches in their careers.
