Meet Nick Thomas

We recently connected with Nick Thomas and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Nick, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

When I was in my late teens, early twenties I met an old guy in a park and we got to talking about life , the universe and everything. One of those conversations that gets deep and profound very quickly.
There was something that this man said to me at the end of the conversation that has stuck with me most of my life, he said Money comes and goes, Time only goes.
And I think about that a lot, time is the most valuable asset I have, I need to use what I have when I have it, so I will try and sometimes succeed and sometimes fail, but you have to keep on trying, because you never know how long you are going to be here, so make it the best while you are here and do and try everything you can.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m an Australian actor and writer based out of New York City, I have lived here for going on fifteen years and currently a producing partner in spit&vigor theater co. At spit&vigor we produce original new theater pieces and strive to create a space where artists can work, learn and create. We have produced multiple off-broadway shows as well as produced smaller and more intimate shows that we have labelled “embedded theater’

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Patience, hard work and fluidity are three attributes that I think are needed to make it not only in the arts but in any field of endeavor. Thee is the old adage that nothing worthwhile comes easy , and I have found that to be true. I also tell people that if you want to create with others, in any field it is important to work with people who have the same level of passion that you have. Working with others can be so satisfying and if you all share the same goals you will get there together.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

With out a doubt the most impactful book on my life was On The Road, by Jack Kerouac.
It was the first book of his that I read and I went on to read his entire works. And the lesson it taught me at an early age was : there is no blue print for this life, follow your dreams, your own path and amazing things will happen.
