We recently connected with Nick Zaremba and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Nick, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
I focus on myself. I think about what I like and how confident I am about my likes. I think about how even if I was alone in the woods or a desert island, I would still be inspired and living creatively. I think about a time when there was no internet and there was no comparing to others on a minute to minute level. I think about out of all the chaos in the universe that I am here thinking about this question.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a Massachusetts-based artist with a diverse creative portfolio encompassing graphic art, illustration, painting, animation, video creation, print publication, and site-specific murals. Currently I am in the studio working on a large body of new work to shop around to some select galleries in late 2024. I am exploring the idea of “making” and not worrying about the outcome as a “product” so a lot of the time I am filming myself and compiling footage of just the “process”. On the side I am also working on some top secret projects with QueenCityFootwear.com and also Grillo’s Pickles. I am also getting into the nature around where I live with the help of my wife (NorthEastDyeWorks.com) who works mainly from nature.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
In the winding paths of my journey, I discovered the profound echoes of simplicity, the artistry of patience, and the dance between stillness and motion. For those embarking on their own odyssey, I offer this enigmatic counsel: Seek the whispers in silence, embrace the wisdom of waiting, and learn the intricate language of the dance; therein lies the essence of an enriching pilgrimage.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
In the tapestry of my evolution, one tome that wove itself into the fabric of my being was a Zen masterpiece, a silent teacher on bound pages. Within its verses, I unearthed the sacred truth that stillness is not absence but a profound presence. It whispered secrets of surrender and the alchemy of acceptance, urging me to sip the nectar of each moment. The pages, like lanterns in the dark, illuminated the path of mindful existence, revealing that within the simplicity of breath, profound universes unfold.
