We recently connected with Nickolas Ballard and have shared our conversation below.
Nickolas , thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from my mother. She’s always taught my brothers and I to always be positive.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m originally from Roscoe, New York. Graduated from Suny Cortland University and Cayuga Community College. Currently living in Los Angeles,California. I’ve been in property management for 14 years. Being a leasing agent is exciting to me for various reasons. It involves helping people find their ideal apartment, creating positive living experiences, and building relationships with tenants. The dynamic nature of the real estate market and the satisfaction of successfully matching individuals with suitable properties contribute to the excitement. While staying updated on market trends. The role’s combination of interpersonal skills, problem-solving, adds to the overall excitement of being a leasing agent.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Tenant interaction,Owner Relations and Market knowledge to me are three skills should have. As a leasing agent, I frequently interact with potential tenants to showcase available properties, address inquiries, and facilitate a smooth leasing process. Clear and effective communication helps in understanding their needs, addressing questions, and creating a positive impression. Good communication is crucial when working with property owners. As a leasing agent you must convey information about potential tenants, address concerns, and keep owners informed about property status. Leasing agents with market knowledge can provide clients with informed recommendations on pricing, property features, and neighborhood trends. Understanding the local real estate market gives leasing agents a competitive edge. They can adapt strategies based on market conditions, making them more effective in attracting tenants and satisfying property owners. So my advice for you is success in leasing is often a combination of knowledge, skills, and a customer-centric approach. Continuously refine and expand your skill set to navigate the dynamic real estate landscape effectively.Connect with other professionals in the real estate industry, including property managers, realtors, and landlords.Networking can lead to valuable insights, referrals, and collaborative opportunities.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
Would be encouragement from my mom. She instilled confidence, resilience, and a positive mindset in my brothers and I. It fostered a sense of self-worth and motivates my brother’s and I to pursue our goals.
