Hi Nicolas and Matias, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

Our purpose in DJing was sparked when we attended our first electronic music events and felt the energy that a DJ could create. The atmosphere, the connection through music, and the ability to uplift an entire crowd inspired us. Music has always been a huge part of our lives—our parents filled our home with it, our dad passionate about sound systems, and our mom finding joy in every melody. Growing up surrounded by music, we realized we wanted to share that same joy and create unforgettable experiences for others. Our goal is to provide an escape, helping people let go of stress and immerse themselves in the moment.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

We are two brothers from a multicultural background—born in Chile to a Chilean father and an American mother. After graduating high school, we decided to move to Charleston in search of new experiences and opportunities.

As professional DJs, our mission is to create unforgettable experiences for everyone involved—whether it’s the crowd, event organizers, venue staff, or our community. We take pride in being professional, organized, and fostering connections through music. Our sets are all about high energy, seamless transitions, and introducing fresh sounds that keep the dance floor alive.

Duo Macky is all about bringing people together through music, and we’re excited to be hitting a major milestone in our career—our first performance at an electronic music festival. On June 6th and 7th, 2025, we’ll be at High Tide Music Festival, sharing the lineup with some of the biggest names in electronic music, including Disclosure, Sidepiece, Chris Lake, and more. We couldn’t be more excited for this opportunity to showcase our sound and connect with an even larger audience!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

For us, the three biggest factors have been consistency, building a community, and staying up to date with music and technology.

When we started, we DJed at small parties for nearly five years without making a dime. But we kept going because we loved it. That consistency—showing up and improving our craft—made all the difference.

Building a community was just as important. Connecting with other DJs, event organizers, and music lovers opened doors we never expected. And staying up to date with music trends and new tech keeps our sets fresh and exciting.

Our advice would be, keep learning, be patient, and don’t give up. The early grind is tough, but if you love what you do, the right opportunities will come.

How would you describe your ideal client?

We are starting to produce our own music and would love to work with any DJ/Music producer that is passionate about electronic music and new technology so we can grow and learn from each other. We love meeting new people and we are always seeking opportunities to collaborate. Everyone can contact us through any social media platform.
