Today, we’re thrilled to introduce you to Nicole Bernardo, a Fractional Chief Operating Officer (COO) and President of Cornerstone Virtual Partners. We had the pleasure of sitting down with her to discuss her insights, journey, and what makes her such a resilient leader.
Nicole, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you developed your resilience. Where do you draw that strength from?
Growing up, I was always striving to gain my dad’s approval, and that shaped me into who I am today. If someone tells me I can’t do something, I respond with, “Watch me!” I refuse to give up. Entrepreneurship is a wild rollercoaster, but I’m in it for the long haul. Every setback has a purpose; I embrace it and wait for the silver lining, knowing it will come. Over the years, I’ve faced multiple setbacks as a business owner, but I’m tenacious, resilient, and always persevere.
Great, let’s dive into your story. What should people know about you and what you do as a Fractional COO?
I work as a Fractional Chief Operating Officer for businesses across the U.S., offering them my expertise in operations, sales, and marketing at a fraction of the cost of hiring a full-time executive. With over 25 years of corporate experience and four years as an entrepreneur, I help businesses grow and scale strategically. I’m passionate about partnering with companies to optimize their operations and set them up for long-term success.
If you had to pick three qualities that are essential to your role, what would they be?
First, it’s all about my experience. With over 25 years in customer service, sales, marketing, and operations, I’ve learned so much that I now get to pay forward to my clients. Second, I encourage business owners not to be afraid to ask for help. Professional guidance, tapping into your network, and seeking feedback are invaluable. Lastly, I believe in having accountability partners. It’s essential to know your role within your business and focus on working ON your business, not just IN it.
Before we wrap up, is there anyone you’d like to acknowledge for helping you develop these essential skills?
Jeff Ventura stands out as someone who played a major role in my development. I worked with him for over 10 years, and he taught me so much about business processes and operations. He was a true mentor, and today he remains a dear friend. From him, I gained a deep understanding of people, teamwork, and how to run a successful business.
