Meet Nicole Collins

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nicole Collins. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Nicole , so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?

Being the only one in the room that does not look like me is not an uncommon instance. I think being a Latina and being confident and comfortable with myself and knowing how hard I’ve worked to get where I am helps with a sense of belonging. It’s also a perfect way to show colleagues how determined Mexican American entrepreneurs are.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

La Luna Florals is an event floral design studio that is completely woman owned and run and was a passion project that now day expanded too much that it became my full time commitment within a year. Our mission is to create high end floral pieces for those who love flowers and who are ready to bring their dreams to reality, With our relationships in the event community, we are very excited to be part, donate, and work with so may Latino/Hispanic businesses and events.
We are now expanding to the United Kingdom in 2026 which is one of our latest accomplishments!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Having confidence, an ability to be adaptable, and a quick learner have helped me get to where I am today. Early in my career (which I feel I still am), I saw that knowing the fact that people were hiring me because they liked or believed in what I was doing was enough to believe in myself. My advice for anyone at the beginning of their journey is to own your strengths. You’re here for a reason.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

My husband has been the biggest supporter of all things La Luna Florals and has done such a good job at keeping me accountable with all aspects of the business. Having a partner who cheers you on even when things are overwhelming is such a gift that I think a lot of people take for granted.
