Meet Nicole Davis

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nicole Davis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nicole below.

Hi Nicole , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I found my purpose through conquering childhood bullying. The only safe space for me in my youth was the theatre. Writing, drawing and acting was my therapeutic outlet that led me to my purpose. It was the place I would go to escape by documenting my thoughts via poetry, writing stories, drawing characters and portraying other people on stage. By the time I got to high school and majored in drama, I knew I was on the right track. It was not until I attended grad school at NYU that I discovered I did not what to be an actress, as my purpose was in creating for young audiences in effort to keep the arts alive for future generations.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a 3 dimensional individual who has combined multiple disciplines which all contribute to my passion for the arts. One includes, arts education; secondly, production and third; stage management. What is exciting about each is that they all feed a different area of personal happiness. I enjoy working with youth and creating for young audiences. I love the nuances of contributing to productions operating lights, sound, etc. Above all, helping others bring their vision to live as a stage manager is a life fulfilled moment each time.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back to past experiences, three qualities that impacted my journey was my childhood upbringing, my education and mentors. Each area led to a new discovery of self and fulfillment.

Some advice I can give is when you know what you want to do in life, research how to gain knowledge in that area. Take the steps to educate yourself in that area. Find mentors who you can learn from on those areas. And do not be afraid to crave your own path if a lane is not marked for you.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?

If I knew I only had a decade left I would make sure I saw as much of the world as possible. Experience the culture, food, entertainment, history and people the universe has to offer. There is an entire world and so many never see a fraction of it having never left their state or major cities. When I leave this earth and life flashes before my eyes, I want the imagery of all the beautiful places and things to be my final memories.
