Meet Nicole Fiore

We recently connected with Nicole Fiore and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Ooh this is a great question and a topic that I feel very strongly about. I feel that confidence and self-esteem comes and goes in waves every day. We have to fight for it and that fight is often within ourselves. We all have great days, we have some bad days, and a whole lot in between. I began competing in artistic roller skating at a very young age and was extremely shy. I liked to perform when I had skates on my feet, but in my regular life I wanted to disappear. In skating I was taught to develop a character to portray and the term, “Fake it till you make it”, was used a lot. I thought it was silly for a long time until I realized the strength and power that can come from it. It’s all about internal dialogue. Too often we are straight-up mean to ourselves. We would never talk to someone else the way we talk to ourselves. In order to truly be confident, I feel that we have to flip that negative self-talk into positivity. If we aren’t our biggest cheerleaders, who will be? Know you’re not alone on those bad days. You will get through it. You will grow. And you do have the power to become the person you’ve always wanted to be.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Well, hello! It’s lovely to meet you. I am a four-time world champion roller skater, movement coach, and choreographer. I teach people of all ages and all skill levels how to roller skate and gain confidence in their every day lives through videos and courses on my website and YouTube channel! I truly believe that movement is medicine and we can make a huge difference in our lives (as well as the lives around us) by striving to become a better version of ourselves every day.

I also co-host a podcast called Glitter & Cat Litter with my husband/business partner where we talk about our relationship, how we work together, and so much more. Working with your partner/significant other is a wild experience and I am forever grateful for it. We collaborate on a wellness website that offers 10-minute or less workouts and mindfulness videos. We are always hoping to grow and improve our everyday lives. For me – on AND off skates.

I also post vlogs every Friday on YouTube! My journey on YouTube has been an interesting one. It’s kind of where this all started before expanding to my website and beyond. Creating videos on YouTube pushes me to share a different view of my world aside from skating. Storytelling and creating regularly is a challenge for me, but a challenge I am facing head-on and loving!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Believe in yourself, know your worth, and push for what you believe in. Like I said earlier, if you are not your biggest cheerleader, who will be? This is all so much easier said than done and you will need to adapt along the way. The road is most likely not paved for what you want to do, and that’s what’s so amazing about it all! Do what you want to do. Create what you want to create. You don’t need to be (and shouldn’t be) like anyone else out there. Do it for you.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Over the past year, I have really learned the value of creating with others. In the past I have been a solo skater, artist, and creator. I preferred to be on my own. However, when you find people who push you to be better, stick with them. It’s helpful to step outside of your world a little to find people who inspire you. That’s what I’m constantly looking for. I want to be inspired by others and I want to inspire others. We can all learn a lot from one another! Let’s be friends!
