We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nicole Jones . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nicole below.
Nicole , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
I have learned to be effective/successful even when I’m the only one in the room that looks like myself by understanding that I am different from the rest! No person is the same and what makes me different from the rest is that I confident in knowing who I am as a person.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My name is Nicole and I currently am a small business owner along with being a mother to four boys! I am a Licensed Natural Hair Care specialist and I don’t just do hair, I Grow hair. This has been a long time passion as many of my relatives specialize in hair. My great aunt left me this mark when she taught me to plait hair at a young age and my efforts to remain well known doing hair is paying off. My specialty is Locs as I start them, maintain them and make sure each client has knowledge of their brown hair. My business will be launching in the upcoming weeks located in Edgecombe County and I will offer service’s to the public! Be on the look out for Fifty Combs LLc being on the map in the hair industry.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back while on my journey I learned that timing is everything! We all get 24 hours per day but we don’t all use our time the same. Be open to taking self care days, learn to prioritize and always utilize your time wisely. Never go to sleep stressed about tomorrow is what I have to remind myself.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client is someone who depends on me. Trusting me with your hair brings joy to me because I know that my work is a statement! I know that you needing me, you’re supporting me and my dreams.
