Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nicole Kimble. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Nicole, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
My generosity was shaped by my environment growing up. My father is a giving person by nature and always lent a hand when he was able. I would often watch him, even through his disability, give whenever he could. I think of generosity as my way of giving back and serving God. I’ve always volunteered through service organizations I was apart of out of my love to serve. In the words of Shirley Chilsholm, “Service is the rent you pay for room on this earth,”. I couldn’t agree more.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m Nicole Kimble, owner of HON LLC,. I focus on holistic Shea butters for the skin. This business started as me looking for something more natural to use on my son and husbands skin. Through this passion for looking alternatives, I started to make my own and it took off from there. We plan to venture into other skin products so stay tuned!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The biggest thing I’ve taken away from this journey is how to maneuver your business even as life happens. In 2021, I was a new parent, newly married and my Dad was diagnosed with cancer. This caused me to scale back on what I could do and sometimes it became too much. I had to make some decisions and realized I was in charge of what I could manage.
Sometimes due to things outside of your control, you may have to pivot in business and be real about what you can and can’t handle. Learn to trust that it will be okay.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
My advice to deal with overwhelm is make time to do the things that decrease your stress and make it a non negotiable. For me, I started getting into physical fitness years ago at a time where I was extremely stressed out. It helped me get through day to day struggles.
When Covid hit and life issues ensued, I’d lost my momentum after all the gyms had to close. Add in new motherhood and struggling with body image, I was unable to motivate myself as much I used to. It affected my mental health and stress management.
I realized fitness was going to have to be a non negotiable and needed to be incorporated into my daily life for the sake of me. So now it’s apart of me like it used to be and I’m happy to have found this me again.
