We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nicole Leon. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nicole below.
Hi Nicole, thanks for sitting with us today to chat about topics that are relevant to so many. One of those topics is communication skills, because we live in an age where our ability to communicate effectively can be like a superpower. Can you share how you developed your ability to communicate well?
Growing up in a Latino household, communication came with it’s own set of unspoken rules. Speaking up was often seen as talking back, and sharing your thoughts too openly could easily be mistaken for disrespect. As a child, that environment taught me to hold back, to think twice before I spoke, and often to keep my thoughts to myself. It wasn’t until I became an adult, finally free to use my voice on my own terms, that I realized just how much I had to say and I let loose.
Reading novels played a huge role in this transformation. Immersing myself in stories, characters, and dialogue gave me the tools to articulate thoughts I hadn’t even realized I was holding in. Books became a mirror, a teacher, and, at times, a megaphone. They helped me understand the power of words and the impact of truly being heard.
To me, communication isn’t just a skill it’s a privilege. It’s a way to connect, to inspire, and to bridge gaps. I’ve come to value the art of communication as one of the most meaningful tools we have, and it’s something I carry with intention and pride in every part of my life.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My journey as a solopreneur is deeply rooted in my passion for helping others create sustainable, efficient systems for their businesses while empowering women to embrace flexible career opportunities. Through my business, L Leon Virtual Assistance, LLC, I focus on providing high-level support to entrepreneurs and small business owners. From creating detailed SOPs and streamlining workflows to managing day-to-day tasks, my goal is to alleviate the behind-the-scenes stress so my clients can focus on growth and success.
A project close to my heart is Simply Virtual: Virtual Assistant Coaching & Training. This initiative is all about empowering women to build flexible Virtual Assistant careers on their own terms. Whether you’re a mother seeking work-from-home opportunities or someone looking to transition into a more flexible lifestyle, Simply Virtual offers the tools, guidance, and resources needed to help you succeed. It’s more than coaching it’s about creating a career that works for your life, not the other way around.
Another initiative I’m incredibly proud of is the Girlhood Collective, a community-focused platform designed to uplift and connect women. Through mentorship and shared experiences, this collective provides a space where women can find inspiration, encouragement, and the tools to step boldly into their potential.
What I find most exciting about my work is the transformative impact it has not only on the businesses I support but also on the lives of those I coach and mentor. Systems and processes may not always be glamorous, but they are the backbone of any thriving business. By creating clarity and organization, I help my clients build strong foundations that allow them to reach their goals confidently.
Looking ahead, I’m focused on expanding Simply Virtual, growing the Girlhood Collective, and continuing to deliver exceptional high level support through my business. Whether you’re a business owner in need of support or someone ready to take the leap into a flexible, empowering Virtual Assistant career, I’d love to connect and help you on your journey.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey as a solopreneur are resilience, adaptability, and effective communication. Resilience has been the cornerstone, allowing me to navigate challenges, push through setbacks, and grow stronger with each experience. Adaptability has been just as crucial, helping me pivot when needed, embrace change, and stay open to new opportunities. Effective communication ties it all together, enabling me to build meaningful relationships, lead initiatives like Simply Virtual and the Girlhood Collective, and connect authentically with clients.
For those just starting out, my advice is to embrace challenges as opportunities to grow, stay curious and open to learning, and never underestimate the power of clear, intentional communication. Progress takes time, but with patience, passion, and persistence, you’ll find your path forward.
How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is a business owner who is ready to reclaim their time and focus on what truly matters to them. I work best with individuals who understand the value of organization, efficiency, and strategic support, but who may not have the bandwidth to implement it themselves. Whether you’re a female founder, a creative entrepreneur, or a woman navigating the complexities of building a business while balancing life, I’m here to help.
I’m especially passionate about working with women from all walks of life, mothers juggling family and work, dreamers turning ideas into reality, and seasoned entrepreneurs looking to streamline their operations. My ideal client is someone who values collaboration, is open to new ideas, and is ready to invest in systems that will not only support their business but also their overall well-being.
If you’re looking to regain your time, bring clarity to your operations, and have a reliable partner to help you grow, I’d love to work with you. Together, we can create the foundation for a thriving business that aligns with your goals and values.
