Meet Nicole Lyn

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nicole Lyn a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Nicole , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

My confidence and self-esteem didn’t happen overnight. For a long time, I had none, especially as a teen and in my twenties. I doubted myself constantly and struggled to see any value in who I was. But little by little, through personal experiences, growth, and a lot of self-reflection, I began to build both.

I gained confidence by facing difficult situations head on, not running from it. There were moments when I genuinely didn’t think I could handle what life was throwing at me, but I did. Each time I overcame a challenge, I proved to myself just how strong I really am.

Surrounding myself with people who uplift and support me has also helped. But one of the biggest shifts was learning not to depend on external validation. I used to believe my worth was defined by how others saw me, whether they supported me or not, and that mindset was emotionally draining. I’ve since done the hard inner work: affirming myself, celebrating my own wins, and speaking to myself with kindness, something I never used to do.

Becoming more self-aware helped my self-esteem grow. I’ve accepted that I don’t have to be perfect to be valuable. My worth isn’t determined by anyone else, it’s defined by how I view myself. And today, I finally see that I am enough.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I love sharing pieces of my life! Whether it’s through the lens of being a mom, a personal blogger, a Disney enthusiast (or a Disney adult as some would say), or just giving a little glimpse into my everyday moments. Storytelling has become such a powerful tool for me, and almost therapeutic. I’ve found a sense of happiness in connecting with others who relate in some sort of way to my journey.

While I do have a 9-5 job that I absolutely love, I choose to keep that part of my life private. It’s something I hold close, and I appreciate having a space where I can thrive without the public eye. I’ve been asked if I will ever leave my job to do content creation full time, and my answer is always no.

One of the things I’m most excited about right now is a new series dropping on my TikTok. It brings together everything I love! My personal day to day life moments, my passion for content creation, and of course, Disney trips. It’s lighthearted, personal, and so much fun! My overall goal, and hope, is that brings joy, inspiration, and just a little fun for someone!

Whether I’m creating content, reflecting on growth, or just being present in my life as it is, I always aim to show up authentically. I want others to know it’s okay to celebrate the little things, to protect the sacred parts of life, and to find confidence in simply being yourself.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I’d say the three most impactful things in my journey have been resilience, self-awareness, and the willingness to grow.

Resilience was something I didn’t know I had until life tested me. There were times I wanted to give up on myself, but I kept showing up, no matter how hard life was. Every time I got through something hard, I realized just how capable I really was, and still am. My advice for building resilience would be to give yourself grace and credit. Even when things feel messy, you’re still moving forward. Strength doesn’t always look like confidence, sometimes it looks like not quitting.

Self-awareness was a game changer for me. When I started to actually pay attention to my thoughts, my triggers, my habits, and my patterns, I was able to understand what was really holding me back. That awareness gave me the power to make intentional changes. My advice when it comes to self-awareness would be if you’re early in your journey, start small. Start with taking quiet moments to yourself to reflect.

Willingness to grow was the most impactful for me. Nothing is more uncomfortable than growth. It means unlearning old beliefs, letting go of people who didn’t support me, and facing truths I’d rather ignore. But it also brought me a sense of relief and freedom. My advice for anyone when it comes to this is stay open. You don’t have to have all the answers, I can say now I still don’t have all the answers. But you just have to be willing to learn, to want to try, and the desire to keep choosing yourself along the way.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, the first thing I do is pause and check in with myself. Powering through any sort of chaos without taking a moment to myself and catching my breath, only makes that chaos implode further. I’m really doing myself a favor when I step away, whether it’s emotionally, mentally or physically, and give myself space.

Sometimes it’s just me picking up a good book and getting lost in a different world for a while. Other times, I’ll listen to a true crime podcast, which is oddly comforting to focus on something completely unrelated to my own stress. It helps distract my mind just enough to come back with a clearer mindset.

I do also look at the bigger picture and try to get real with myself about what’s triggering the overwhelm. I will typically ask myself, is it something I can control? Something I need to let go of? That kind of self-awareness has been essential for me. If I am able to figure out what I need personally, whether it’s rest, movement, silence, or just a break from social interaction, I will honor that.

Always try and remind yourself that it’s okay to not have it all together. Always give yourself grace. Feeling overwhelmed doesn’t mean you are failing, it just means you need a moment to reset, and that’s perfectly human.
