Meet Nicole Mickelson

We were lucky to catch up with Nicole Mickelson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Developing my confidence and self esteem was by far, one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences I’ve overcome in my life. It took me many years of working with my mentors before I learned that loving who you are comes with true confidence. It doesn’t not matter what you do, how you look, where you come from. The only thing that matters if accepting ALL of yourself..the good and the bad. Owning all of that and finding the peace within to love every bit. Once I learned how to do that..I was able to love myself unconditionally…the same way I love my children. When you love yourself in that way, true confidence and self esteem is obtained.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am the proud owner of Brows by Design where I practice cosmetic tattoo design. I am also a licensed esthetician and massage therapist and I have always had a passion working with others and helping them to heal and feel better about themselves. Serving others is what life is all about and where we can find pure joy. It is an honor to have so many people put their trust into my art and craft and be able to watch them leave with a bit more confidence then what they came in with. Having an artistic eye and channeling my energy into my workday along with my passion in serving others allows me to ho to work everyday feeling grateful. “Find a career you love and you will never have to work a day in your life” is a quote I live by and rings so true. Brows by Design offers permanent makeup and skincare modalities to anyone in search of natural enhancement; from eyebrows to lips, eyeliner to skincare, we are happy to offer you the latest techniques in the industry.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities that have been most impact full to growing my business were integrity, consistent education, and compassion. It takes a commitment to yourself to keep going, the want to always learn and grow as well as having passion for your craft and compassion for your clientele. Through good and bad, ups and downs..the will to stay focused and not give up builds a strong backbone that is unshakeable through it all.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impacted thing my parents did for me is actually a little ironic because as a child/young adult I always held some resentment surrounding this. My parents did not support me financially in anyway growing up. I was provided everything a human needs, shelter, food, water, love. However, my parents had me work for anything I wanted such as clothing, phone, cars ect. This instilled a great amount of determination and work ethic in me and its something I am now so grateful for. Everything I have today I earned through hardwork and determination and I am thankful my parents took that approach with me because it made me a stronger person.
