Meet Nicole Mosher

We recently connected with Nicole Mosher and have shared our conversation below.

Nicole, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I can attribute this to my late Golden Retriever, Roscoe. The bond he and I shared was truly beautiful. I always loved dogs, but when I had Roscoe as my very own Fur Baby, my outlook on life itself changed. Life is too short, and dogs have so much to teach us… live in the moment, enjoy the simple things, overcome your fears, forgive and move forward, loyalty & enjoy life. In my past life, when I got married, I absolutely had to include Roscoe, no questions asked, he was my best friend. Leading up to the day, I realized the logistics of including him, was extremely difficult. I ended up having to uninvite a friend so she could provide all the VIPup duties; transportation, handling and overnight care post. This is the moment I realized my purpose. Dogs are more than just pets, they’re family, and they deserve to be included in all of our special moments, so my idea of developing wedding pet chaperoning began, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
People always ask, “What is your title?”, and the answer is this; we bring pets to weddings! Being such a new and niche service, you can call us wedding pet handlers, wedding pet chaperones, wedding pet chauffeurs, your Pet’s Plus- One, your Pet’s Wedding Date, Doggie Butlers, Wedding Pet Attendants, Wedding Pet Sitters…and the list goes on and on. All you need to know is we take care of all the details, from transportation, to handling, to dressing your pet up, to pet cares before/during/after, we make it so you can have your Fur Baby there and not have to worry about a thing. As the owner, I take care of it all; marketing, social media, new client consults, staffing, website updates, invoicing, accounting, etc.. The most exciting part of my job is actually being able to “work” a wedding, it’s the absolute best! Seeing the joy on Mom & Dad’s faces, when we arrive with their Fur Baby, makes all the behind the scenes administrative work 100% worth it!

I am completely dog obsessed, when I introduce myself at vendor meetings, I simply say, “just call me the dog lady”. I’ve always had dogs in my life, from family pets very early on in childhood, to owning my own as an adult. They bring something very unique to our worlds, and I can’t imagine my world without them.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Working with animals, the first thing that is an absolute must have, is compassion and respect for all animals. Breed, size, sex, does not and should not matter. You need to be able to connect on a much deeper level to have a seamless and successful event. Secondly, being flexible in this niche is a must. Things change, especially working with live animals, so you need to be able to think on your feet, act quick, and enjoy the ride. And third, be sure you’re confident in what you do. It’s a scary ride having such a new service to offer, and you’ll have plenty of judgment along the way, but stay confident, stay proud and believe in yourself.

How would you describe your ideal client?
Our ideal clients are those who call themselves Fur Mom/Dads. The clients who, very similarly to myself, NEED to have their absolute best friend standing next to them on their special day, are the clients we want to help. Clients who want us to take unlimited behind the scenes photos of their Fur Baby and consider the pup pics some of the absolute best, clients who want us to dress their beloved pet up for their big role, and even moreso, get excited when we offer to do so, and even more, clients who truly appreciate our service. We’re here to help, and we’ll be the best hype FURever friend your pet could ever ask for. Even better, post wedding services, we’re here for the long run. We would love to be your next pet sitter. Weather that means providing doggy drop ins, walks, or overnight cares when your away, we absolutely love all of our furry clients, and would be honored to be their furever besties.
