Meet Nicole O. Salmon

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nicole O. Salmon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Nicole, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Oh, that’s a fantastic question! You know, my mindset underwent a major makeover on this journey. I realized that purpose isn’t some far-off destination; it’s a daily lifestyle. Shifting from asking, “What should I be doing?” to “How does who I am impact what’s right in front of me?” was a game-changer.

I embarked on this extensive quest, a deep dive into understanding yours truly. It wasn’t just about what I should be doing but figuring out who I am. I paid attention to my unique gifts and wiring, followed the breadcrumbs of my frustrations to unveil my passions, and really tuned into the things that, despite being challenging, energized me—especially on those “I’m too tired for this” days. It’s been a journey of self-discovery and embracing a purposeful lifestyle.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

So, picture this journey: I traded in my 9 to 5 in the not-for-profit sector a few years back, diving headfirst into what I love to call “full-time purpose.” I’m a credentialed minister and a certified life coach with over 15 years under my belt. Obtained an undergrad in Christian Ministry and did some post-graduate studies in organizational leadership and adult learning—followed those purpose breadcrumbs.

Now, I’ll admit, I’m not much of a credential-dropper, but it does help the incredible women I work with feel at ease. It’s like waving a confidence wand—rest, invest, trust.

So, how did I end up as the “purpose coach”? Well, I looked back at my social media posts one day and noticed a trend—I was always talking about purpose, explicitly or not. It stuck, and now, in the vast sea of life coaches, I’m known as the “purpose coach” extraordinaire.

Whether my clients are in business, ministry, or the wild world of both, they all share a common thread: a desire to align their vision with their values—a purpose-aligned life. That’s the pillar guiding them through my one-to-one services, signature events, or when I’m speaking at gatherings, helping them take bold action for happier, more balanced lives.

Now, my latest book, “Courage and Confidence: A Bold Guide to Unboxing Who You Were Created to Be,” is my secret weapon. It’s all about helping women understand who they are and giving them permission to rock that identity, no apologies needed. Pre-order on Amazon now; it drops on April 9, 2024!

Oh, and about those three qualities to develop? Well, most of the women I work with initially doubt themselves, lose sight of goals, and lack a clear plan. My role? I’m the Clarity Curator, helping them realign with their core for authentic living and leading.

Quick tip from someone who’s been there: Before making the big leap, get to know yourself and test your ideas before investing fully in them. Master your temperament, tap into your strengths, know your convictions, and align your business plan with your life plan. It’s all about creating a purpose-led life.

Now, just imagine a world where women confidently walk in their true selves—no more pleasing others or fearing rejection. That’s my mission: to bring out the strengths and gifts locked inside every woman.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The majority of the women I work with come to me because something has caused them to doubt themselves and their abilities, they’ve lost sight of their goals, and lack a clear plan to action them. This clarity cocktail is usually chased with a bit of self discovery. Seasons, stages, and ages usually cause most of us to start to revisit the big W2. Who am I and why am I here? I’m their Clarity Curator. I help my clients to realign with who she is at her core so she can live and lead from a place of authenticity.

When I left my 9-5 six years ago I didn’t do so with a lot of clarity and intention and it cost me time and money. The big leap is not for everyone. I personally don’t recommend it at all. Get to know yourself. Test your ideas before you commit to see how they fit. Ask yourself, “Have I gotten everything I need to learn out of my current situation before I step into a new one. Make sure the worst thing about your thing is still inspiring to you.

Here are some things I have had to master to succeed:

Do I have a solid understanding of my temperament and work-style?

Every entrepreneur should be able to identify their key strengths and know how to tap into them and use them to leverage their purpose. This includes knowing things like
your stress triggers, growth areas, and what character pitfalls have previously robbed you of your purpose and progress.

Am I only chasing the cash, or do I feel a clear sense of conviction/calling?

Money is a motivator for many but conviction/calling is what anchors you during the very turbulent tides of life and business. Get super clear about yours. On going coaching and mentorship is an integral part of my own successes

Does my business plan align with my life plan?

It is very easy to pattern your business practices after the ones you are accustomed to working for. Take the time to reevaluate your priorities and build something that facilitates a purpose-led life.

Can you imagine a world with the right people in the right places? Women walking around poised, powerful, and effective because they know their God, know themselves and are walking in the fullness of that truth? No pretenses, not trying to be what mom and everyone else wanted. But aligned with who they really are at their CORE. Demons tackled and closets clear of skeletons. Showing up whole in their relationships, on their jobs, in their communities, in their churches fully aware of their strengths and reconciled with their limitations. Not changing appearance like it’s a fashion show depending on the spaces we occupy. I’m convinced that more than half of what the world is aching for is locked up in thoughts of women whose strengths and true gifts to the world are buried beneath our disease to please and the fear of being rejected for who we really are. My mission is to be the coach that brings it out of them.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I am absolutely Team collaboration, and guess what? I’m planning to own that game even more in the coming year. Because let’s face it, relationships are the forever currency that has the capacity too be a mutual blessing, but it also has the reach to amplify impact and results.

Now, let me spill a little secret about my calling—it’s all about bridging the gap between strategic plans and spirit-led living. I’m the love child of your favorite daytime self-help talk show and a Sunday morning at the Potter’s House with Sarah Jakes Roberts—yeah, it’s that unique blend!

If you relate with this style, then you’re exactly the powerhouse I’m eager to collaborate with. Slide into my DMs on any social platform by searching for “nicoleosalmon,” or take a stroll through my website at www.nicoleosalmon.com. Let’s make an even greater impact together!
