Nicole, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from God. For my family and me, faith is the cornerstone that gives us strength and hope during life’s challenges. Knowing that God is with us provides a powerful source of comfort and encouragement, helping us stay united and steadfast no matter what obstacles we face. This spiritual foundation reminds us that we are never alone and that every test is an opportunity to grow stronger together. Our connection to God empowers us to keep moving forward with courage, positivity, and determination, supporting not just ourselves but each other through the ups and downs of life.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

As a full-time liveaboard sailing family, our story centers around embracing a life of freedom and exploration on the water while raising our children aboard our fully electric sailboat. Professionally, we create content that shares the authentic joys and challenges of sailing life, emphasizing family bonding, sustainability, and the hands-on experience of living afloat. Through our social media and YouTube channel, we share our journey in real time—and we hope to encourage others to join us there to help our community grow and to continue living this lifestyle we love. What makes our brand special is the unique blend of showcasing a modern, eco-friendly approach to sailing alongside meaningful time together as a family in our journey toward farther adventures. We are passionate about inspiring others by highlighting not just the adventures of cruising, but the intentional lifestyle choices that come with living freely on the sea—prioritizing connection, environmental stewardship, and continuous learning through boat projects and navigation. Our content aims to encourage viewers to consider the possibilities of life afloat and the deep sense of freedom it can bring.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three most important qualities and skills that have been crucial in our journey as a full-time liveaboard sailing family are adaptability, practical marine skills, and storytelling.

First, adaptability is vital because life at sea constantly changes — from weather conditions to unexpected maintenance projects and shifting family dynamics. Staying flexible and open to new challenges helps us remain safe, calm, and resilient.

Second, developing practical marine skills such as navigation, understanding boat electrical systems—including our fully electric setup—sail handling, and basic repairs is essential. These abilities build confidence and independence, allowing for safer and more enjoyable cruising.

Finally, storytelling has been key to sharing our experiences and connecting with others. Whether through video, writing, or social media, communicating the reality and beauty of the liveaboard lifestyle helps us inspire others and create meaningful community connections.

Together, this blend of mindset, hands-on expertise, and storytelling—and our commitment to innovation through going fully electric—forms a strong foundation for the life we continue to build on the water.
