We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nicole Simpson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nicole below.
Nicole, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
They say when you discover what you’re passionate about, are really good at, and the world needs — you have found your purpose. Walking into a space and knowing exactly how to organize it has always come naturally to me and is something I love to do. In doing this work I’ve realized the joy I get from the look of disbelief I see in my clients when they walk into their organized homes and offices. I love knowing that I can use this skill to make a difference in people’s lives. It’s a privilege to know I get to do work I am passionate about and in that journey, I discovered my purpose.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Neat With Nic is a South Florida professional organizing company that transforms our clients’ spaces from beginning to end. Our team focuses on creating designs to maximize space, removing inefficient systems, installing customized storage solutions, assisting with decluttering, organizing, and handling the purchasing needed for our clients’.
Getting and staying organized is more than decluttering and putting things away neatly. We focus on understanding the obvious and hidden challenges our clients face and addressing them as we redesign their spaces. Planning is key, as it has to be specific to our clients’ needs and lifestyle. A great deal of our time is spent customizing solutions because we recognize that what works for one person/family is very different than what works for another. We prioritize understanding our clients’ lifestyles and routines in order to deliver solutions that work specifically for them.
Our growth has been exponential every year. It’s humbling to look back to where this all started… when it was just me.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The top 3 skills that have helped me both in my career and personal life would have to be… (1) Making calculated and informed decisions, and sticking to them (2) Not giving up even when the cards are stacked against you. (3) Being a good listener.
My advice to those starting out is – “Expect challenges”. The rode to success is not linear. Challenges and mistakes are not a sign of failure, but a circumstance of growth. When there is doubt about which direction to go, I always maintain the pace until I can make a logical and informed decision. Learning to trust yourself is instrumental. And when you make a mistake, learn from it, but it’s just as important to move on.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
I am most grateful to my parents for teaching me self-reliance. This skill has taught me accountability, addressing challenges independently, and how to trust myself in both my personal and professional endeavors. My only wish is that I am able to pass that on to our son.
