We recently connected with Nicole Vardo and have shared our conversation below.
Nicole, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I try to keep my creativity alive by always living every day with gratitude. I understand that life is short and unpredictable but also beautiful. In a way that’s what inspires me the every day life and struggles. Through photography I understand my emotions and just always try to find the visual beauty in everything.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I live in a cozy corner of West Texas. While many might think I am a full-time photographer, I am actually an engineer by day and a self-taught photographer during my free time. My photography approach focuses on capturing the true essence of moments, avoiding rigid methods or uniform editing styles. I believe every shoot is unique and tailor each session specifically to you, ensuring your photos reflect your story and vibes. My goal is to have your photos represent your narrative through light. In the coming months, I plan to continue creating and traveling more with my camera as well as dabble into film photography.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back I failed so many times at things but I’ve always been persistent and resilient, and I’m never scared to ask questions. My advice to the younger generation is to explore and try everything because time will pass anyway. Along the way, you’ll discover your passion, even if it takes a few attempts. Trust yourself, keep learning, and remember that how you do anything is how you do everything. Hope that wasn’t too cheesy!
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m always open to collaborating with other artists of all types. That’s where you learn and grow. There isn’t only one way to go about things and that’s what I love about it. also talking in general.
