Meet Nicole Wallace

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nicole Wallace a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I can confidently say that my journey towards developing self-esteem and confidence is still a work in progress, but I have made significant improvements. One of the key factors that have contributed to my growth is accepting and loving myself for who I am, without constantly comparing myself to others. I have learned to remind myself that each person’s situation and lifestyle are unique, and we are all on different paths. It’s unfair to compare myself to others when our journeys are different.

Whenever I catch myself being overly critical with myself, I ask a simple question: ‘Would you speak to your friend this way?’ This helps me gain perspective and realize that I deserve the same kindness and compassion I would offer to a friend. By treating myself with more respect and understanding,

Building confidence and self-esteem is an ongoing process, and there are still days when I struggle. But by practicing self-acceptance and challenging negative self-talk, I have seen significant improvements in my overall confidence and self-esteem.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a passionate Real Estate Agent based in Houston, Texas, with five years of experience in the industry. What excites me the most about my work is the opportunity to help people find their dream homes and make significant life transitions.

Having been born and raised in a small Caribbean island Trinidad and Tobago and later moving to the United States with my wonderful husband and six beautiful children eleven years ago, I have personally experienced the challenges and rewards of relocating to a new country. This journey has not only shaped me as an individual but has also deepened my understanding and empathy towards my clients who are going through a similar process. I can relate to their concerns, uncertainties, and the importance of finding a place they can truly call home.

As a Realtor, I believe in building long-lasting relationships with my clients. I don’t consider my job done once a property is sold; instead, I strive to be a reliable resource for my clients beyond the transaction. Whether they need recommendations for reliable service providers, or keeping them informed about market trends and the value of their property, I am committed to being there for them every step of the way.

I am constantly striving to enhance my services and stay updated with the latest developments in the real estate market. I attend regular training and workshops to sharpen my skills and ensure that I can provide the best possible guidance to my clients. Additionally, I am always exploring new ways to create a seamless and enjoyable home buying or selling experience for everyone I work with.

I am incredibly grateful to be a Real Estate Agent, and I am dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of my clients. Whether it’s helping them find their dream home, providing ongoing support, or expressing my appreciation through client appreciation parties, I am committed to delivering exceptional service and being a trusted partner throughout their real estate journey.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that had the most significant impact on my journey as a Real Estate Agent were:

First and foremost, the importance of removing emotions from the deal. While it may seem counterintuitive, allowing emotions to dictate negotiations during a home sale can be highly detrimental. As an agent, it is essential to maintain a level-headed and objective approach throughout the process. This enables effective communication, strategic decision-making, and successful outcomes for both buyers and sellers.

Another significant lesson I learned was to avoid comparing myself to my coworkers. In the real estate industry, there are numerous successful realtors who sell hundreds of homes each year. It can be tempting to compare oneself to these high achievers and feel inadequate or demotivated. However, this mindset can undermine your self-esteem and hinder your progress. Instead, focus on your own growth and achievements. Set realistic goals, celebrate your successes, and continuously strive to improve your skills and knowledge. Remember, each realtor has their unique journey, and comparing yourself to others only take away from your own development.

Lastly, one of the most important qualities I learned was to genuinely help people find or sell their homes at fair market value, rather than being motivated solely by a commission check. My clients can sense my sincerity, which has not only led to successful transactions but also to valuable referrals from satisfied clients.

For those embarking on a career in real estate, this is not a “get rich quick” profession, contrary to common misconceptions. It requires hard work, consistent self-marketing efforts, and a genuine dedication to serving your clients. By consistently demonstrating professionalism, delivering excellent results, and cultivating meaningful relationships, you will establish a strong foundation for long-term success in the industry.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
When it comes to overcoming challenges and developing the necessary skills, qualities, and knowledge for success, two individuals have been most instrumental in my journey.

From the start of my career I made the wise decision to hire a business coach. This coach has played an important role in my development by providing valuable guidance, introducing me to different perspectives, and equipping me with essential skills. Through our coaching sessions, I have learned how to navigate challenges effectively, explore new approaches, and maintain a positive mindset. Their expertise and mentorship have been invaluable in shaping my growth as a realtor.

My husband, he has consistently been my biggest cheerleader and a pillar of emotional support. His belief in me has helped me persevere and stay focused on my goals. Having someone who genuinely cares about my success and well-being has been an incredible source of strength throughout my journey.
