We recently connected with Nidhee Sachdev and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Nidhee, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
My path to purpose was shaped by small moments, deep questions, and an evolving understanding of what it means to show up for people when they need it most.
During my medical training, I was drawn to fields that balanced technical skill with emotional connection. Reproductive endocrinology wasn’t just about science—it was about stories. It was about people navigating some of the most vulnerable, hopeful, and complex chapters of their lives. That intersection—where clinical precision meets deep human need—was where I felt most fulfilled.
What sealed it for me wasn’t a single success story, but the privilege of being part of so many. Each journey reminded me that this work isn’t just about fertility—it’s about resilience, hope, and rewriting what’s possible.
Today, as a physician and co-founder of South Coast Fertility Specialists, I see my purpose expanding. It’s not only about helping people have children—it’s about creating a space where they feel seen, supported, and safe. Where they know they’re not just a number or a case, but a person with a story worth honoring.
That’s where I found my purpose—and where I continue to find it every day.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a double board-certified Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) specialist—better known as a fertility doctor—and for over 10 years, I’ve had the privilege of helping people build their families. The last eight of those years have been spent in Orange County, CA, where I’ve guided individuals and couples through one of the most emotionally complex journeys of their lives.
Each person who walks into my office is carrying a unique story, often filled with equal parts hope and heartache. Some journeys are short and straightforward, others long and unpredictable—but no matter the path, I’m committed to walking it with them. Being able to change the course of someone’s life in such a profound way is an honor I never take for granted.
In 2025, I entered a new chapter: I co-founded South Coast Fertility Specialists with two incredible female physicians. In addition to being a wife, mother, and doctor, I now proudly call myself an entrepreneur!
We’re currently building a state-of-the-art IVF lab and fertility clinic from the ground up, all while running our practice and continuing to offer the kind of deeply personalized care we believe every patient deserves. It’s an exciting—and ambitious—step forward, rooted in a shared mission: to bring cutting-edge medicine together with heart-centered care.
At the end of the day, our goal is simple but powerful: help people grow their families, one story at a time.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The Three Lessons That Shaped My Journey in Medicine –
When I look back on the path that led me to a career in reproductive medicine, three lessons stand out — not just as turning points, but as the foundation I continue to build on every day: the importance of mentorship, the power of perseverance, and the impact of focusing on details that truly matter.
These are the lessons I’d want to pass along:
1. Mentorship Matters More Than You Think
Growing up as the youngest in a big, multigenerational family, I learned early to respect my elders and listen closely to their stories. That upbringing made it second nature for me to seek out advice — whether from teachers, classmates, or later, other professionals and entrepreneurs I admired.
Looking back, I can say with confidence: mentorship changed the trajectory of my life. It gave me perspective when I was stuck, encouragement when I was doubting myself, and practical advice I couldn’t have gotten from textbooks or Google searches.
If you’re just starting out: Don’t wait for someone to offer mentorship — ask for it. Reach out to people whose work or values you respect. The right conversation at the right time can open doors you didn’t even know existed.
2. Perseverance is the Real Prerequisite
My first year of college was rough. So rough, in fact, that it nearly closed the door on medical school before I had a real chance. But I spent the next three years focused on rebuilding — my grades, my confidence, and my sense of purpose.
That experience, though just a short chapter in a long journey, was defining. It was the first time I proved to myself that I could set a hard goal, keep going through the discomfort, and come out stronger on the other side.
If you hit a setback: That doesn’t mean you’re not meant for this path. It just means you’re human. Progress isn’t linear, and success isn’t reserved for the flawless. Show up. Keep showing up. That’s how you move forward.
3. Details Make the Difference — Especially in Fertility Care
Fertility care is complex. It’s technical, emotional, and deeply personal. Over the years, I’ve learned that success in this field isn’t just about understanding the science — it’s about paying close attention to the small things. The way you explain a procedure. The environment you create for a vulnerable conversation. The precision in how you perform every step.
For patients, this is more than treatment — it’s hope, disappointment, resilience, and trust all wrapped into one. And they deserve care that reflects both clinical excellence and emotional awareness.
If you want to make a difference: Yes, become technically excellent. But also develop the skill of listening. The ability to help a patient feel truly seen and supported can be just as powerful as any medical intervention.
In Closing
Whether you’re studying for your MCATs, deep in residency, or just curious about medicine — I hope this helped. The journey isn’t easy, but it’s full of opportunities to grow, connect, and make a real impact.
Mentorship, perseverance, and attention to detail aren’t just nice-to-haves — they’re the threads that have held my career together. And they’re what I’ll keep leaning on as the field of medicine (and life itself) continues to evolve.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
The Most Influential Person in My Life? My Dad.
When I think about who’s helped me grow the most — not just professionally, but as a person — I keep coming back to my dad.
He’s never been one for flashy advice or long speeches, but he gave me a lesson early on that’s stayed with me through every chapter of my life: success looks different for everyone — and the only version that matters is your own.
That mindset has been a gift. It’s helped me tune out the noise, avoid the trap of comparison, and focus on what feels meaningful and authentic to me.
As the daughter of first-generation immigrants, I carry a deep awareness of the courage, grit, and resilience it took for my parents to start over in a new country 50 years ago. Their story isn’t one of ease — it’s one of showing up, even when things were hard. Of building a future not just for themselves, but for the generations to come.
I channel that energy often: their ability to adapt, stay grounded, and move forward with purpose. My dad’s optimism, his steady belief in me — those are things I used to take for granted. But over time, I’ve come to realize how rare and powerful that kind of support really is.
So much of what I’ve achieved — and how I’ve handled setbacks — comes back to that foundation. His quiet strength. His unwavering belief. His reminder to define success on my own terms.
And for that, I’ll always be grateful.
