We were lucky to catch up with Nikayla Nicholls recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Nikayla , great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.
I develop the availability to take risk from school and all the support I had pushing me. I learn that taking risk had given me opportunities I never knew were out there. Putting myself out there show that taking risk can be either bad or good, but you will never know until you take that step. This helped me to build confidence and character.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Nikayla Nicholls and the name of my business is Glamour Touch. I am resin artist, I love craft and being creative and resin art brings out beautiful expressions in my work that customers love and appreciate. The most satisfying part is the joy it brings other people and how the admire my work.
Most of my products are made out of resin and comes in a variety of shapes and sizes like keyrings, soap dish, openers, Ashtrays and so much. One of my recent projects is sublimation tumblers and personalizing cups and also creating molds.
I also partnership in another business call Risen Arts. Which is Grachic design and bringing customers ideas to live with our work. Printing on T-shirt and planning to expand more in the future.
After joining the Youth Entrepreneur Scheme (YES) i had multiple opportunities to go to just pop up shop and gain the experience of pushing my products and meeting people. The amazing part of the journey is that I find enjoyment in making my products and meeting new persons along the way.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Learning to be more effective in communication with others and paying close attention to what others are saying. You learn alot by just listening and build relationships.
Gaining knowledge in financial management due to this to be my weakness. However because of the Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme workshops I was able to learn how to price and manage the in and out of cash flow alot better.
Time management between my day job and my business. It’s not an easy task but I make it work,it can be exhausting especially when I prepare for markets on a weekend. With my best friend help the task becomes easier. If the work load seems like its too much i would advise asking for help if needed.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
The one challenge I’m currently facing is content. I would like to do more content but struggle how I should go about it. I want to be unique with my content in term of making more videos and be consistent with posting. I started scheduling post so I can be more consistent and try making small video when I go out on markets to post.
