Meet Nikholas Parker

We recently connected with Nikholas Parker and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Nikholas, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I started working as a financial analyst out of college. Working in the finance field with accountants often made me feel frustrated because of the lifestyle I was surrounded by, the choices people made and the attitudes that I interacted with on a daily basis. I found myself upset that I did not enjoy my work nor did I feel like I had a real purpose working at a big corporation where it felt like if I did not do my job, nothing within the company was really going to change. Daily frustrations without feeling a real purpose in my life led me to look within myself. I started to think about the different activities I would do when I had free time. I found that on Friday or Saturday nights, when I did not have plans, I always gravitated towards participating in activities that made me a healthier or a more creative individual. I would cook without a real plan: I would just pull out the ingredients I had available to me, turn on podcast and let the meal create itself. Or, sometimes, I would spend extra time in the gym, challenging my body with new exercises or stretches that I felt might help improve my body physically. I often found myself wanting to play basketball, soccer, volleyball or tennis whenever the opportunity for a competitive game presented itself. Once I was able to recognize that my natural way of living is to be active, I realized I should try and make that my career.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I help busy individuals to live a healthier, more productive and sustainable lifestyle. I love starting from scratch with someone who has never really worked out before and/or maybe they have not had the best education on what foods might be best for them to consume. Finding out what workouts, stretches, types of cardio, proteins, fruits, vegetables, meal times, etc. work for someone is my favorite part of my job. Every individual is different and it is usually a fun but challenging process figuring the types of things that work for someone.

At the moment, my biggest focus is helping as many people as I can achieve their health and wellness goals, specifically in the Chicago area but virtually as well.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Being personable is a quality that has been very important for me because I work with or meet so many different types of people on daily basis. I have found that if I am able to provide everyone I meet with a pleasant experience, it allows me to be better at my job.

Having the ability to manage my time effectively has been huge for me. In my profession, it is extremely crucial that I am punctual but I have found that if I am going to achieve the physical and professional goals I have for myself, I have to plan out my days and be very intentional with how I spend my hours.

The desire to improve physically and mentally is something that I never want to lose because it has been so impactful during my journey. I try to soak in every conversation I have with someone I respect, take the time to read or listen to evidence based information. I regularly challenge myself mentally and physically to see what I might learn in the process of going through those challenges.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client is someone with specific goals. I think it is extremely important for everyone to have physical, career and cognitive goals. Having goals that we feel might be a challenge to accomplish is the only way we get better as human being. When someone works with me, I want them to feel like they are getting better every time I work with them. I find that when individuals have something they are working towards, it improves all the other aspects of their life because they constantly have that goal sitting in the back of their mind.
