We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Niki Britton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Niki below.
Niki, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I grew up not having much, I had to work very hard for the things I had and wanted. There wasn’t anyone in my family that I could fall back on or support me when I needed a way out, so I worked for it and didn’t have the choice to give up. I was a single mom when my son was ten, I had to learn how to do everything on my own and I had to figure out what I really wanted in life. I worked two jobs when I first began my real estate career. There was a point in my dual job journey that I had to make a decision and I chose real estate. I probably could have saved up a little bit more money than I had lol. I found myself with no job, just real estate, and no money to my name. There was a time that I couldn’t pay my rent, utilities or anything extra. I was getting extremely close to having to live in my car with my son. That’s when everything clicked! That’s when I learned how to put my head down and hustle for my leads. This was a time that I like to look back on because that was what built me. That was what molded me into the agent and person I am today, that is what I look back on and I know I’ll never allow myself to get to that place again.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I own and operate a full-service real estate brokerage in Texas. We currently have 52 Realtors that are based all over Texas. Full Circle Texas prides itself on our customer service and care for our clients. When we first built FC we wanted to have something that every agent within the brokerage was proud of, something that each agent could make their own. From that we have built several different divisions within FC like property management, commercial sales, short term rental management and so much more. Full Circle has expanded to multiple places in the Houston metro, Beaumont metro, San Antonio metro and Austin/Hill Country metro area. We are different than most real estate brokerages because of our vision and our mission, we thrive to take care of our Agents and our Clients! In 2022 we were voted into the top 5 best real estate brokerages in Houston by the Houston Chronicle, this year we made it to top 5 again! We are a small boutique brokerage that was built to take care of people and we have big plans coming for all of our market areas!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back on my career I’d say the three most impactful qualities you need to have to be successful would be; trustworthiness, compassion and the want to hustle hard! My biggest advice to anyone that is just starting out or that has been in the RE business for some time is to put your head down! Do not pay attention to other agent’s production numbers! Get out and talk to people, be present in your community. I say this all of the time but do not get discouraged… remember, anything that you are working on today won’t pay off today! The work you do today will pay off 3 months from now! Be consistent, don’t give up and always set your goals high!
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
My biggest area of growth in the past 12 months has been patience! I swear every real estate agent has ADD or ADHD and we are movers, we like to get things done fast and we want everything to happen fast lol. This past year I have really been working on expanding my patience threshold and learning to step back and breath. The real estate industry has so many moving pieces and its easy-to-get frustrated multiple times in one day. I’ve had to slow myself down a bit and realize that patience truly does make a difference in your work life! My new quote I’ve been using for myself, my agents and children… just chill, it’ll all be okay!
