Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nikolay Velikanov. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nikolay, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I’ve learned that real resilience comes from clarity of purpose. There were moments in my career where nothing seemed certain, but showing up every day, even when the path wasn’t clear, taught me resilience in ways no book ever could.
Over time, I realized that consistency, discipline, and curiosity matter more than waiting for “perfect conditions.” The more I focused on creating meaningful work and telling stories that reflect human experience, the stronger I became. My purpose keeps me grounded, and that sense of direction is what helps me push through uncertainty, both personally and professionally.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a Creative Producer and Filmmaker focused on documentary and narrative projects that explore the relationship between humanity, technology, and personal transformation. What excites me most about my work is the ability to capture real stories and shape them into something that can spark reflection or inspire people. I love creating films that make audiences think about how we connect, what we fear, and what we hope for.
Recently, I’ve been developing projects focused on emerging technologies and their impact on our lives, including visual explorations involving autonomous vehicles and advanced robotics. I am also working on several documentary concepts that explore faith, identity, and the emotional journeys people experience while rebuilding their lives.
My goal moving forward is to continue building stories that feel honest and visually engaging, and to collaborate with people who believe in thoughtful, human-centered filmmaking. I’m excited to keep expanding my work, growing creatively, and bringing new ideas to the screen.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities that shaped my journey the most are curiosity, consistency, and adaptability. Curiosity pushed me to explore new ideas and technologies and to stay open to unexpected creative directions. Consistency taught me the value of showing up every day, even when progress felt slow. Adaptability helped me move forward in unfamiliar environments and adjust quickly when plans changed.
For anyone early in their path, my advice is simple: stay curious, because curiosity fuels growth. Build consistency, because it creates momentum. And learn to adapt, because creative work rarely follows a straight line. These qualities will carry you through challenges and help you evolve with confidence.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m always open to meaningful collaborations. I enjoy working with people who are passionate, communicative, and guided by purpose rather than ego. I’m especially interested in connecting with creatives who explore the emotional side of AI, robotics, and human identity, people who want to tell stories about how technology shapes us and how we shape it. If someone is developing projects in that space, I would genuinely love to connect. My best work always comes from collaborating with people who share a strong vision and a desire to create something that resonates.
