Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nina Garza. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nina, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
From my family. My parents always told me to get back up on my feet and keep trying until I reach my goals. Watching them, they were great examples, never letting failures stop them. Yes, life can be tough, but that doesn’t mean you should just “stick your head in the sand and give up”. Looking even further back, my grandparents overcame possibly the hardest obstacles, from being WWII survivors, and having to flee their hometown, to battling polio, and rebuilding their lives from nothing. They all have led by example. Looking at their live, how could I not be resilient?
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Art, animals, and nature have always been in my life. With Artsefact LLC I have been able to combine those passions into something much more meaningful. With my husband’s support we have been able to slowly build up a brand with a clear mission around Artsefact: Creating Art for a Cause, by specializing in endangered species and spreading awareness about them.
For the past few months, we have been implementing campaigns on social media, like “Meet the Species”, “Quiz Day”, “Chance at Survival” and more to not only advertise my art but also educate our followers about conservation needs. With each sale we are supporting wildlife charities and hope to open our own non-profit one day, to take this a step further.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Resilience, a knack for research, and optimism.
Running a business is far from easy, and comes with a myriad of obstacles. Without proper research and a resilient mindset, you won’t go far. A healthy dose of optimism doesn’t hurt either! It will all work out in the end ;P
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes, absolutely. I would love to have experts in their fields write guest blogs about endangered species, or get in touch with me about developing updated fact sheets about them, which I would illustrate. I am also contacting zoos and wildlife centers about possible collaborations to sell my art in their shops. This could include portraits of their local animals.
A collaboration with other wildlife artists would be interesting, too.
There are endless opportunities and, honestly, if you have a great idea that checkmarks conservation and art, let’s talk!
The best way to reach me initially is via email.
