Meet Niqueea Sykes

We recently connected with Niqueea Sykes and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Niqueea, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

For me, the only way to find your true purpose is to ask the One who created you, God. Purpose isn’t a guessing game or a trend. It is designed by Him, for His glory, and to impact others. God wires each of us uniquely through our experiences, education, personality, and even the challenges we face to prepare us for the calling He’s placed on our lives. The amazing thing is that when you step into that purpose, it doesn’t feel like a grind. It feels natural, life-giving, and often it’s something you’re drawn to long before you even realize it’s your purpose.

That’s exactly how it happened for me. At 11 years old, I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur. If you asked me what kind of business, I couldn’t tell you, but the fire was already there. Over the years, God kept shaping me by equipping me with the right education, sharpening my mindset, surrounding me with the right people, and giving me resources, skills, and spiritual gifts I would need later.

By the time I turned 30, it all came together. What once felt like random pieces suddenly made sense, like a puzzle clicking into place. I realized my purpose was never about building something just for me. It was about building something that glorifies God and helps others. That is the kind of purpose you can wake up excited about every single day.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Travel has always been a huge part of my life. So far, I’ve visited 27 countries and even lived full-time in six of them. Solo traveling is one of my greatest passions. It has stretched me, grown me, and given me some of my best stories. It also taught me how much beauty there is in stepping outside of your comfort zone and experiencing the world through God’s eyes.

I’m also a bit of a language nerd. I’ve been learning Spanish for the past year and finally made it to a B1 level. That feels like a big win for me, especially since I took Spanish all four years of high school and a year in college and still couldn’t hold a real conversation back then. It’s been so fun to finally connect with people in their own language while I travel.

Those personal passions ended up shaping a lot of my professional work. I started a travel app (beta version dropping soon!) called HelloFellow for Christian women who solo-travel. The idea came from my own experiences of wanting to find church community abroad due to how spiritually isolated I felt and realizing how hard it can be to meet other Christian women while abroad. HelloFellow helps women connect with local churches and like-minded believers wherever they’re traveling, so they don’t have to feel isolated while exploring the world.

I also run a brand called Dual Citizen, which creates Bible studies for Christian entrepreneurs. When I first started out in business, I noticed there weren’t many Bible studies that spoke directly to business owners, even though the Bible is full of wisdom about how to approach our work. That gap really stuck with me, so I created resources that help entrepreneurs see Scripture through the lens of their business and apply it in practical, meaningful ways.

Right now, I’m focused on growing both HelloFellow and Dual Citizen. They may look different on the surface, but both have the same heart: helping people bring God into every part of their lives, whether it’s their work, their travels, or the way they dream about the future.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

he three things that have made the biggest impact on my journey are consistency, humbleness, and being proactive. Consistency has been huge because I had to keep showing up for the vision God gave me even when I didn’t see instant results. It’s easy to get discouraged when the rewards don’t come right away, but faith and consistency go hand in hand.

Humbleness has also been important. I’m passionate about the work I do, but I know I can’t do it all by myself. Being humble enough to ask questions, to learn from others, and to receive help has made me stronger and has opened doors I wouldn’t have been able to walk through alone.

And then there’s being proactive. For me, that means starting before everything feels perfect. If you wait for the “perfect” moment, you’ll be waiting forever. I’ve learned that it’s better to put something out there, get real feedback, and make it better as you go. The most important thing is simply to start.

For anyone just starting out in their journey, my biggest piece of advice is to know your “why.” Business is one of the riskiest careers you can choose, and things will not always go as planned. When challenges come, your “why” is what keeps you grounded. If money or fame is the only reason you’re doing it, those things won’t give you deep roots. And without roots, you’ll get blown over when the winds of hardship come. But if your “why” is strong and meaningful, it will hold you steady and keep you moving forward no matter what.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

Honestly, the Bible has been the most important book in shaping both my life and my business. I really believe it’s the best business book you’ll ever read if you look at it through a business lens. God lays out so clearly the foundations of what it takes to run something with wisdom, integrity, and longevity. I’ve leaned on His Word again and again because it never fails. At the end of the day, why would I stray from the Creator’s blueprint when He already gave us the ultimate guide?
