Meet Nisha Merrifield

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nisha Merrifield a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Nisha, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Self Reflection and Self Talk are my ways to boost my self esteem. I feel like I have always been a secure person. Affirmations are huge for me. Affirming my truth in the mirror while looking at myself helps me. I love self expression through style and that also requires self reflection. Also honoring my truth when I don’t feel the best either, Self esteem for me requires a lot of honesty and acceptance which I have learned over time. I have learned to be kind to myself no matter how I feel.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My name is Nisha, I am 30 and thriving! Learning and evolving daily. I am a mother of 2 daughters.
I am a Spiritual Life Coach. My focus is spiritual growth and personal development. I enjoy learning about who I am through the journey of life. Through this journey I have found an authentic person that I thoroughly enjoy. I want everyone to find the courage to love themselves and show up as that everyday without shame. I am always making connections with people and through those interactions I create a safe space to hopefully reveal to them a reflection of their truth. I aim to travel the world and continue to meet and connect with people. My goal is to help people discover themselves one connection at a time. Who knows I may be traveling to a city near you!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I would say for me my skills are my strength, empathy, and understanding.

Strength comes from enduring a lot of trials and tribulations throughout life. I had to overcome hardship and still keep going, not only for myself but for my daughters. I don’t know where I would be without them. I learned sometimes the strongest thing you can do is let go! Trying to control life will have you so frustrated. Let God be God and focus on what you can control, Yourself! Your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual state of mind. That’s where strength comes from. Never give up!

Empathy for me is such a powerful skill to possess. HOWEVER the best way to utilize this skill goes hand in hand with understanding. Empathy is being able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes and see life from their perspective. I can say sometimes as an empath I will put myself in someone else’s shoes and start walking. You need boundaries with empathy. Slip the shoes on, get a view point, take them off, put your shoes back on with the understanding of where someone else is coming from. Separate yourself from their perspective too. Their journey is not your journey, and it’s not your responsibility to navigate their life. (Let Go!)

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
There was a short period of time in 2023 where I was in a domestic violence shelter, the 24/7 advocates helped me a lot. They validated and high lighted a lot of my skills during that time. I learned a lot about boundaries, self care and prioritizing rest. Learning that it’s okay to rest and relax was huge for me. It feels great that I no longer feel guilty for doing what is best for me. – Also, being very spiritual God is always a root and core component in my daily life. That relationship gets better the more I focus myself. Source = Self.
