Meet Nkechi May-Nzeribe

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nkechi May-Nzeribe a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Nkechi, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Definitely from my parents….

I was fortunate enough to grow up in a home where both my parents were invested in my upbringing, education, career choices and personal development.

They both had unique ways of doing this though…

My dad was the drill sergeant who never praised you too much and always asked what i could have done better. Right before he said he was proud of me.

While my mom was more nurturing and always celebrating even the tiniest of wins.

Those were real confidence boosters and made me feel like I could really do anything I set my mind to.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I help brands tell their story in a profitable way.

A brand is who people think you are, and how that positive or negative association with your brand affects your profitability.

I manage that reputation by:

– Telling the business’ story through effective content

– Driving brand engagement that results in interest, attention, desire, and action, through a well thoughtout advertising strategy, that is capable of making individual people, feel like each ad has been personalized just for them.

– Copywriting with applied psychology because, Sometimes, you have to sell things to people who didn’t know they wanted or needed it.

Sooo…..

Telling the right story….
creating the right narrative …..
and inspiring that connection to a product that ends with a sale / positive resonance ….

… is what I do.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three skills:

– Be digitally savy.

Tech is your friend. Makes your job easier and more efficient if applied properly.

– Have broad knowledge on as many topics as you can.

Even a brand manager, one needs to know the technical workings of a product as well as the customer side of things, in order to be able craft messages and campaigns that sell the product in a way that resonate with the target audience.

– Be AUTHENTIC

It’s technically not a skill but it can be a super power.

In everything one does with a brand, the objective should be to stand out, not blend in or be forgettable.

Customers relate better with brands that give off that creative edge but retain trust factor, character and integrity.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
Aww mehn, my dad sent me to school…

Not just one but quite a few because I always knew I wanted to be a consultant.

The Field didn’t even really matter at the time. I just knew, i didn’t want to be tied down to one industry.

So my dad let me take on an academic journey that led me to getting degrees and certifications in:

– Software engineering
– Information systems management
– Business administration
– Marketing
– Advertising
– Business and Management

All of which gave me endless value and insight that is helping me be more rounded in the solutions i provide for my clients personally and on a business level.
