Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Noelle Farr. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Noelle, so great to have you sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our readers and so let’s jump right into one of our favorite topics – empathy. We think a lack of empathy is at the heart of so many issues the world is struggling with and so our hope is to contribute to an environment that fosters the development of empathy. Along those lines, we’d love to hear your thoughts around where your empathy comes from?
Through my life though wonderful, I have faced many different trials, and emotional challenges that have pushed me to not only grow and become resilient, but have given me a soul of empathy and understanding for others pain or struggle.
I have experienced being raised by a single mother who worked hard to keep her head above water
I have experience being a brown women in a prominently white state. I’ve experienced racist comments and suggestions through my life.
I have experience leaving a religion ( the LDS religion) and rebuilding myself and beliefs.
I have experienced my father leaving our lives when I was a child and growing up without a father present
I have experienced unexpectedly becoming pregnant at 17 years old and having my son at 18
I have experienced being a single mom and raising a special needs child as my son is non verbal autistic and epileptic.
He is almost 13 now.
I have experienced heartbreak several times in my life.
I have experienced care taking and emotionally taking on my mother as she struggled through 5 different cancers and I her only child caring for her until her passing a few years ago. I lost my rock and biggest cheerleader. I had to make the decision to take her off life support and held her during her last moments.
I have experienced also losing my Father who I reconnected and found in Egypt from my own investigation in 2013 and since had built a relationship with him ( a very cool story about how I found him)
I am a single mother, dog mom and building my successful career in real estate, owning my home and pushing to have the best life we can have.
Sure there is more to every item I have listed… but let me tell you I have seen so much and experienced so much that it has given me an EMPATHETIC heart. Not just a sympathetic heart. I believe there is a depth of the soul that comes with going through challenging things in life. You cannot have true empathy unless you have experienced those emotions in your own life.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a real estate agent in Salt Lake City Utah. I absolutely love my career because I love PEOPLE! My passion in life is human connection.
I love that I get to dabble in so many different areas from sales, to design, to office admin work, to networking, marketing, development, psychology … the list goes on.
I believe myself to be a consultant in the way that I will never pressure my clients into a sale, but advise them to listen to their gut and make decisions based not only on investment, but in
I’m currently focused on helping more individuals and families get into homes that will pave the way for their wealth building.
I am a heavy buyers agent, but one of my goals would be to take on more homes as a listing agent.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Resiliency, Grace, Patience.
My advice would be to give yourself grace in the journey. We often are so hard on ourselves and expect ourselves to always be the very best, the most productive, the strongest etc… Realize that taking things slow, and at the pace YOU need is ok. It’s ok to be taking things slow. Know that t is OK to recover, rest, pause, stop.
With that comes patience, give yourself time to understand, mold, recover, grow…. and come back stronger
Through those two things comes resiliency. You learn to bounce back … over time you learn exactly how you recover, what your soul needs, how you become productive again, how to build, how to connect… and each time you get back on your feet you know that you can do it again.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
The biggest obstacle I am facing right now is how to balance life to avoid burnout. I’m sure many people feel like this. How do we keep up with it all?? My resolve for this is realizing that certain things need to be prioritized at different times and that’s ok.
I work in sprints. I will push really hard in my work and dive deep for X amount of time… then when I feel I need rest I do.
Or I focus on something else that feels productive like my home and yard… organizational projects, or my health and self care.
Of course being a mom is always a constant and always comes first, but I’m learning all things can’t take priority and the same time and its ok to have rest, and focus on other things.
