Meet Noelle Horton

We were lucky to catch up with Noelle Horton recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Noelle, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from the life I’ve had to live. Being a mom to four girls, and sometimes caring for my sisters’ kids too, has taught me to keep going even on the days when I feel like I have nothing left. I’ve had moments of breaking down, but I always find a way to stand back up — because little eyes are watching me. My husband’s support has been a lifeline, but a lot of my strength has come from within, from knowing that no one else is going to build this life for me. I’ve created a business from scratch, I’ve learned to balance being a mother and an artist, and I’ve discovered that my empathy — even though it makes me feel everything so deeply — is also what keeps me strong. My resilience is raw, messy, and real… but it’s mine, and it comes from love, responsibility, and refusing to give up no matter what life throws my way.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’ve been a licensed hair and makeup artist for almost 20 years, and for the past nine I’ve poured my heart into building my own in-home salon studio. What I do might look like hair and makeup from the outside, but for me it’s so much more. It’s about creating a space where women feel cared for, celebrated, and reminded of who they are beneath the chaos of everyday life.

As a mom of four, I know what it feels like to put yourself last — to give and give until there’s nothing left. That’s why this work is so personal for me. Every woman who sits in my chair has a story, and my goal is always to give her a moment to breathe, to see herself in the mirror and feel beautiful in her own skin.

My brand is built on connection, empathy, and trust. Over the years, I’ve been honored to work with brides, new and expecting mothers, fellow artists, seniors stepping into a new chapter of life, and women who simply want to feel like the best version of themselves. What excites me most is the versatility of this art — it allows me to meet women exactly where they are, in whatever season they’re walking through.

Right now, my focus is on continuing to grow the studio into more than just a place for services. I want it to be an experience that feels safe, uplifting, and unforgettable. Every brushstroke, every conversation, every laugh shared is part of something bigger: a reminder that beauty isn’t about perfection — it’s about feeling seen, supported, and empowered.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I learned early on by watching, listening, and honestly, taking note of just as much of what not to do as what to do. One of the hardest lessons, and one I wish I had known sooner, is that there really is enough business for everyone. You don’t have to fight for it—you just have to find the people who connect with your work and your spirit.

I also wish I’d had more support instead of feeling like my growth was in competition with those above me. That experience shaped me in its own way, though—it reminded me how important it is to lead differently, to be the kind of person who builds others up instead of tearing them down.

What’s carried me through, and what continues to make this work exciting, is the willingness to keep learning. I’m still a student every single day, and I think that’s the secret to long-term success in this industry. Stay open-minded, learn from your peers, share knowledge freely, and remember: the moment you think you’ve arrived is the moment you stop growing.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Heck yes..absolutely! I’m always looking to collaborate with professional photographers who value the magic that happens when hair and makeup artistry comes together with their craft. My goal is always to make their job easier, elevate their vision, and create an experience where clients feel confident, comfortable, and completely taken care of.

If you’re a photographer who loves working alongside a beauty professional to bring your sessions to life, I’d love to connect. Collaboration is where the real magic happens, and I’m all in.
